4.0 out of 5 stars We like it a lot
Me and 7 of my friends all bought this the day it came out and one of my friends came here to buy one for his cousin and saw these 2 star reviews so we decided to write a group review cuz it's way better than that. We'll go song by song.Falling out - 3 of us love it, 3 of us like it, 1 of us hates it. The one that hates it hates staind. Two of the ones that like it...

I absolutely LOVE JCS. I got so excited when they released a new album, because all the songs on their other ones are so powerful that you just can't stop listening to them. In listening to the first track, I decided it was okay, but the rest of the album sucks. What happened? The songs are so b-l-a-h. They sound so mainstream with so much more of the regurgitated...

I absolutely LOVE JCS. I got so excited when they released a new album, because all the songs on their other ones are so powerful that you just can't stop listening to them. In listening to the first track, I decided it was okay, but the rest of the album sucks. What happened? The songs are so b-l-a-h. They sound so mainstream with so much more of the regurgitated riffs and themes of some of the more mainstream bands out there today, such as Creed, which not surprisingly they make an appearance (so glad they broke up!).
I am thoroughly disappointed.

Two of the ones that like it also hates staind. So even if you hate staind you might like this song but you might not. Still, it's only one song and we all agree all the other ones on the cd are better.Quitter - 6 of us really like it. 2 of us aren't that crazy about it yet.Happiness - 2 of us love it. 1 of us could take it or leave it. 5 of us like it.Ghettoverit - all 8 of us like it. It's a fun song that you can't take seriously. It's a good tune.Living with Ghosts - all 8 of us think this is a great, great song. If you've ever lost someone you love, you will be able to relate to this song. Strange - another one all 8 of us like. Maybe because we're strange too.Dead Sleep - maybe the best song on the cd after living with ghosts. Shoulda been the single instead of Falling Out. All 8 of us love this one.Beautiful - Another really good one. We all agree again, we like it.Leech - If you've ever known someone who takes everything you've got to give and more without giving anything in return you will have this song on repeat all day. One of us just broke up with our girlfriend and this song has been on nonstop. Says it's really the first song to ever describe that spent feeling you get when someone drains the life out of you. All of us like this song but he relates to it the most right now.Unshaken - Yup, another one all of us are really into. Great song to get you feeling strong during the tough times.Paper Dolls - Also could be a single. Really a fun song. As good as anything currently on the radio. All of us dig it and 3 of us walk around singing the chorus all day.So, that's it. Just the opinion of 8 guys in LA. Mostly we hope everyone reading this will buy it so JCS can get out here on a tour but we can't see how anyone couldn't like most of ths cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best of 2004, January 19, 2005
This review is from: Represent (Audio CD)
great album that combines the strengths of both of the previous two. if you're not feeling the songs at first, go see them in concert, it'll make a world of difference. in fact, just go to one of their shows anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, June 24, 2004

Great new cd from agreat band. I love their other albums and each is different. BYOS is a solid listen straight through w/o a bad song and alot more mellow than their other ones (reminds me of stuff by Pepper, Slightly Stupid, Stranger etc even though its unique). PTSE is more rock w/ some funk bass and stuff, good cd but their sound is less developed. Now we come to rePresent. Definately different from both the other two (but then again neither of the first are the same) but i love it. Alot heavier with louder guitar but Jimmi still sounds the same. Same inflection and energy. I love this CD, its a shame its so short. Only two songs that I dont really care for but the rest are awesome. Check it out for your self and u wont be disappointed

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, April 28, 2004
This review is from: Represent (Audio CD)
It's good, but not as good as their previous two albums. A few tracks really stand out (Strange, Dead Sleep, Unshaken and Paper Dolls). The album seems to be more pop than "Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope", but doesn't have the catchy reggae/ska hooks that "Bring your Own Stereo" had. Where I found every song to be great on their first two albums, "re.present" disappoints with more "filler" songs (Quitter, Beautiful, Unshaken). And even these songs aren't too bad.

My favorite song is "Paper Dolls", I love to sing along on the "blah blah blah blah"'s. The one song I really hate is "Ghettoverit": a slow song about how the "Thug Life" is so '97. The song is just not funny, and it's boring. This is a first for me, a JCS song I don't like.

5.0 out of 5 stars RE.PRESENT ROCKS YO!, May 23, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Represent (Audio CD)
Like many other Shack fans I have been waiting a long time for this baby. Re.present was worth the wait. I was a little nervous, like a kid on Christmas morning, not knowing for sure what I was going to get, but dem boys were good to us this year I am tellin' ya!! Favorite songs are the soaring Living With Ghosts, the ROCKIN Dead Sleep and Strange and then there's Ghettoverit which is so funny (if you get the joke) that it reminds me of something Adam Sandler would do if he were a real musician. Also really cool is hearing how the boys work with songs co-written by the likes of Aaron Lewis from Staind (big surprise for me there, I liked it) and the guy from Marcy PLayground (Paper Dolls is another GREAT song on this disc).I can't see how anyone could be disappointed by this CD. I've listened to it at least 10 times already and it only came in the mail 3 days ago. It just keeps getting better and better. My older brother just ordered a copy to take to school with him after he was listening to mine and he is a super music snob so if he likes it you'll like it too. These days I feel lucky if a cd has 2 good songs on it. Well, I think all of represent is great so it's like getting 8 cds for the price of one. How can you go wrong with that? Talk about getting your money's worth out of something. This is the best money I've spent lately. It ROCKS I tell ya!

5.0 out of 5 stars Re.present ROCKS!, January 5, 2006

This review is from: Represent (Audio CD)
I've always loved JCS. I think this one is the best yet. It really shows that JCS is multi-dimensional. All the songs convey a different tone and depth. I think it's by far the most lyricly complex release to date. I really think Paper dolls, Dead sleep and Falling Out are all awesome songs. And IMO, Leech is one of the most a$$ whoopin songs I've ever heard. And hearing them live is the only thing better than hearing them on the cd. I love this cd. And after hearing the new line-up, I think these guys are built for speed, and they just plain throw down. Jimi is one of the most prolific writers in rock history. Re.present rocks! It's the best yet.

I bought BYOS a while back and liked most of it's tracks. I bought Re.present after reading reviews here and I thoroughly enjoy it. Every track is great. It is great rock and that's what I like. They are also one of my special bands because only 3 of my friends know about JCS. I recommend this CD to anyone who likes JCS or rock in general. This is a very solid CD.
