5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!
Gosh! I have never even heard of Russell Watson until my best friend recommended his first album the voice to me.At first I was a bit skeptical, but after listening to him sing, I was totally blown away by that voice!!I grew up with classical music and have never come across a singer who sings both opera and pop. Russell deserves the thumbs up.No regrets buying this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than the second time around
Russell Watson and his hyper publicity machine have returned to bless or curse us once again with both pop and operatic selections, over orchestrated and over-hyped as always.

I bought this CD knowing full well what to expect because I have the first 2 and had absolutely no reason to buy this other than to see how Watson would fare against a spinto aria like...

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Great Voice!, January 4, 2005
This review is from: Reprise (Audio CD)
Adding another album to his growing list, Russel Watson presents 13 more tracks to his fans and new listeners. If you enjoyed The Voice and Encore you're definitely not wasting your money on purchasing yet another album.
Watson's combination of classical operatic pieces with symphonic pop orchestration puts a new twist on some old favorites. If you prefer listening to old remastered Caruso recordings this may not be the album for you, but if you like hearing old favorites remade with a twist and a great voice this is definitely for you.
With just enough spice to promote further interest and the same stunning delivery of each song as in his previous albums, Watson delivers another nearly flawless piece of work for us to enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo! Watson!, January 17, 2004

Russell Watson does it again!! Yes, he knows how to keep his growing audience spellbound and completely captivated. In this grand orchestrated Album Russell is exquisite and sounds great. Favorite songs are: "Immenso sogno", "the Pearl Fishers' Duet" (many reviewers agree), "Granada", and "Recondita armonia" (one of my all-time favorites). The most touching songs are "Core `ngrato" and "the Living Years". Dynamic. Bravo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, November 10, 2003
This review is from: Reprise (Audio CD)
This is one of the best albums I have ever purchased, not by just Watson, but of any singer. Judging by what many Watson fans say about his ability to perform before a live audience and connection with his audience, it is no wonder that the CD elicits this feeling despite not being able to actually see it. The only negative I have with the recording is that it only has 13 tracks. I listened to it the first couple of times and have replayed it a dozen times.

Russell's style of singing really attracts all listeners and hits the high point with "Core `ngrato", a classic that is quite Russell. There are several other highlights on this great CD, including "Immenso Sogno", "the Pearl Fishers' Duet", "the Living Years" and "Did You Ever". If I listen to the same songs sung by another singer, I am left incomplete because it doesn't have the soul that Watson's performance has provided. Of course, it is not all Watson. The orchestra and the arrangements are also superb.

Highly recommended!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, Recommended, November 5, 2003

Watson's USA Reprise recordings are not as extensive as his import Reprise CD, but this album has some of the most affecting songs I've ever heard him sing. The best part is that these are not all the standards that appear on every CD, making it a wonderful collection to listen to.

Some tracks - "Immenso Sogno", "All or Nothing", "Core `ngrato"----are remarkable. Great CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watson - one of the greatest singers ever!, October 22, 2003

If Amazon knows what it's doing, this CD should jump out at anybody who searches under the words "Russell Watson". I have everything Watson ever recorded, but I still bought this CD--it's for people who want to see what Watson sounds like, and for those who have all his albums, seeing how he gets better and better each time out.

This new version for the USA eliminated some songs I wish they had kept from the Reprise import, but the added new songs are excellent. So you get singles classics like Nothing Sacred as well as wonderful classics like "Immenso sog no" and "Tutto sei per me" and Watson's great interpretation of "All or Nothing".

And one more quick note: if you only want one Watson CD, buy this one. They should hand this CD out to every newborn baby so the kid can grow up knowing that Watson is one of the greatest singers ever.

Russell is the best tenor as far as I'm concerned. This cd is one of his best works and I can't wait for his 4th album to be released.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than ever, January 17, 2004

I've been a huge fan of Russell Watson since he first appeared at Trump's Taj Majal and now have every album he has recorded. In my opinion, this is his best album yet. His voice is stronger than ever and he now has a control that seems to be improving year after year.

Although I have never cared for pop songs, in Mr Watson's hands (along with brilliant arrangements and production values of his pop selections), I can appreciate the songs and actually love them now. My favorites on this CD are "Torna a Surriento", Vesti la giubba" and "Core `ngrato".

Everyone, Watson's got the range and the looks to match. Critics, you aren't nuts, your deaf. Strong, powerful and spine tingling is all I can say.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great recording, January 5, 2004
This review is from: Reprise (Audio CD)
Russell Watson is immensely popular in England. For a while, it seemed as though he might be making a trip to the US but, unfortunately, his concerts have been primarily in England. Fortunately, we have his CDs in the meantime.

On this CD, there are some great recordings - "Tutto sei per me", "All or Nothing" and "Did You Ever". While people may remember Russell for his classical singing such as "Core `ngrato", my personal favorite among many is "The Living Years".

For Russell Watson fans, this CD is a great find, and well worth purchasing. He truly has a wonderful voice, and this CD with the selections of both classical and pop serves as a nice collection.
