5.0 out of 5 stars Rockin' Electric & Surreal Dream
A thick and trippy sound with nice electronic ornamentation. A bit darker than their last album, but just as enjoyable and unique. I can't say that I have heard a mostly Spanish-language group that is doing the same thing. Other bands come close, but Zoe consistently deliver this dense shoegazey/electronic rock. While I personally do not find this album as beautifully...

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting
The album is interesting, but its reach will be quite limited until they switch over to English. Unless you're dealing with classical music, the world really does run on English these days, and this band needs to too, if they want worldwide success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockin' Electric & Surreal Dream, April 18, 2009
This review is from: Reptilectric (Audio CD)
A thick and trippy sound with nice electronic ornamentation. A bit darker than their last album, but just as enjoyable and unique. I can't say that I have heard a mostly Spanish-language group that is doing the same thing. Other bands come close, but Zoe consistently deliver this dense shoegazey/electronic rock. While I personally do not find this album as beautifully expansive as the Memo Rex Commander... album (the songs on this album are more closely related to each other) it does have the same dreamy sonic landscapes and good hooks you can expect from Zoe. The vocals are just as delicious, but with a higher ratio of lyrics in Spanish, much like the first two albums, fyi. I definitely recommend this album if you heard any Zoe before or if you are a psych/shoegaze fan and maybe haven't delved into Spanish rock before. The Zoe Exitos best of is a great start for Zoe, or you can go backwards like I did from Memo Rex. Also, a personal plea: if you have this album and have a legitimate (likely favorable!) review, post it! I've no idea who this Angus McCloud thinks he is but I'm pretty peeved that he would be able to lower the rating of this album with such a pointless review. Hope this helps, and enjoy the music. =-) p.s. I understand Spanish but can't translate well; hence the English review, but if you comprehend the lyrics, they really reinforce the surreal quality of the music.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT ALBUM!!, January 20, 2009
This review is from: Reptilectric (Audio CD)
I have been a follower of this band since their earlier days. This album is truly spectacular. They have such a unique sound. Their lyrics always have something to do with outer space, something metaphorical and deep. Its very difficult to compare the sound of this group because nothing really sounds like them, even though they have been compared to the Latin version in Depeche Mode. I really recommend this album to anyone that appreciates unique sounds and thoughtful lyrics. Zoe is undeniably the best Latin rock band out right now!!!! WONDERFUL!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST LATIN ROCK BAND Since SODA STEREO!!!!, June 17, 2009
By
This review is from: Reptilectric (Audio CD)
Definitely this's their best and most polished album so far.
I'm a big fan of Rock en Espanol and the first time I heard their 2005 song " The Dead" I knew right away that I was listening to a very special band. I was hooked instantly with their amazing sound and great vocals. Zoe is without a doubt the best Latin Rock band since the two legendary bands Soda Stereo and Heroes Del Silencio and Reptilectric is a Masterpiece in any language....

On a foot note: If you love and appreciate bands like Soda Stereo, I asure you that you will fall in love with this band forever.

Long Live ZOE!

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome album for the Zoe follower!!, May 30, 2009
This review is from: Reptilectric (Audio CD)
I have been a Zoe follower ever since their first hit "Deja te Conecto". And it's been hard getting or listening to their music over here in NY/NJ metro area. And for a USA-born in NJ with Ecuadorian mother and Dominican father background that I have, I'm a phenomenom for liking this music, lol. Reptilectric demonstrates Zoe's consistency with thier unique sound and original lyrics. And yes this album is not as upbeat as their previous albums, it's a more reflective and relaxing musical electronic bliss. And I agree with that other review, Zoe is the best Latin Rock band out there these days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album- A voyage through space, May 22, 2009
This review is from: Reptilectric (Audio CD)
I got this album about three weeks ago and I can't stop listening to it. Listening to these songs is like taking a voyage through space, the songs really work well together and really do transport you to another place. There is not one song in this album that I don't like, but my definate favorites are Luna and No Hay Dolor. I think that compared to Memo Rex, some of the melodies are not as up beat but Reptilectric offers a more mellow, seamless work that deserves to be heard. Overall I strongly recommend this album to any Zoe fan and also to anybody who is tired of the same mainstream sound of so many rock bands out there, you will not be disappointed. This album rocks!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant album, but not the best one of the lot!, October 1, 2009
This review is from: Reptilectric (Audio CD)
I would like to start off by saying that this album is a great follow up to "Memo Rex", but it's definitely not their best album.

This record does include my current favorite of theirs, 'Nada', which is in my personal top 10 of the year! The instrumentals and vocals blend in very well and provide a surreal aura to any environment. Another good track on the album is the heavily experimental 'Babylonia', which has a very energetic drum pattern and a schizophrenic tempo- a treat for the ears!

Even though few of the songs on the album are too "bland" for my tastes, it goes without saying that Zoe's still got it!! I highly recommend this album- however, I would prefer their earlier attempt "Memo Rex Comander..." over this one any day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original music, July 12, 2009
This review is from: Reptilectric (Audio CD)
I gave it a five star not only because it deserves it for being original. But also because some people put a 2 star based on how they can't understand spanish. So ignorant. Anyway, this band is my fave band because their lyrics are poetic and they bring a lot of meaning to the melody.
Simply the best, and if you can't understand Spanish, too bad. But honestly, if you are open minded, you will understand that language does not matter at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars And it's a Mexican Band!, September 25, 2011
This review is from: Reptilectric (MP3 Download)
Indeed there is a lot of talent. You could understand their letters, but not really feel them as they are transmitted since it's a cultural thing. We are more engaged into the meaning of love and Zoe's music portrays mexican youth feelings. If you live in Mexico than you'll understand what I'm talking about and will truly understand how Zoe's music is important for us. Yo vivo en Mexico, de verdad no se puede apreciar al cien su musica si no entiendes la cultura de nuestro pais. Asi de simple ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Best latin rock band (along with Babasonicos), June 14, 2010
By
Paco (Monterrey, Mexico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Reptilectric (Audio CD)
Even if you're not able to fully understand the wonderful Spanish lyrics, this is one of those groups whose music transcends the language barriers. As it has been said here already, this album is darker and with more electronic elements than the previous ones, but full of great songs that although enjoyable right off the bat, you can gradually keep "peeling" each track, layer after layer after each listening. In general, the style Zoe has come up with in this album, is a very unique one which often makes you feel like going through a cosmic voyage (in perfect reference to Leon Larregui's affinity for astronomy when younger), and as always, with excellent production detail. Leon's vocals are just mesmerizing and seem to flow effortless on each track; a perfect fit for their music. If you decide to buy this, and haven't heard their previous work, Memo Rex Commander y El Corazon de la Via Lactea, I recommend purchasing both!
