5.0 out of 5 stars Energenic !
This CD is full of fast-paced electronica songs. I love "Ready To Go" and "Wrapp." As someone mentioned here in another review, it does make you want to shout at the top of your lungs. Many of the songs are in your face and full of attitude. Great for parties or getting the adrenaline going.

3.0 out of 5 stars Energetic, Fun Pop
I must have slept-walked through 1996, because I really only knew "Ready To Go" from the car commericals. I found this CD in the used section and gave it a chance.

I'm glad both the crunchy guitar-driven Americanized version and the rave-ish European version of "Ready" are included-- they're strong bookends for the opening and close of the album. The other...

5.0 out of 5 stars A staple in any party-cd collection, an unsung classic..., January 9, 1999

It's not bubble gum, thank god, and it's not your normal blend of todays techno-garble. This CD is a fountain of energy and a scream-it-at-the-top-of-your-lungs-while-driving experience, while at the same time somewhat sexy with tracks like "Wrapp" and "Don't You Ever". For those who like "Ready To Go" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous", there's much more to this CD than just those two chart-toppers, so be sure to push play and let it run all the way through, I guarantee you'll hit repeat, more than once.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my personal all time favorite cds, November 6, 2001

Although this band's career has been a brief career, their first album has remained a personal favorite of mine. I remember being blown away by the fusion of rock with dance music when I first saw the video for "Ready to Go". I simply fell in love with the band's music right away. I was rather disappointed in the band's second and final album "Speed Ballads". I thought it was awful. The songs on that album lacked the hooks and techno beats that I fell in love with on their first album. I never heard anything before like what I heard on Republica's self-titled album. I particularly dug the original mix for "Ready to Go". I wish that was released as the single here in the US but unfortunately America remains clueless on techno music. "Drop Dead Gorgeous" is my other personal favorite track off the cd. Saffron's vocals is awesome. She sounds like she is shouting and singing at the same time on every track in a good way. "Out of the Darkness" and "Holly" are other faves of mine. All the songs off this cd are excellent. There isn't a single track on this album I did not like.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, March 27, 2007

i like a lot of different music, everything from Ministry and Pantera to Jewel and Britney Spears. so i know music and i like anything with a good sound. when i was 15 the video for "Ready to Go" came out and it was very catchy, so i got Repubica's self-titled CD not long after. every song is great on it and the single "Ready to Go" isn't the best song on there by a long shot. here i am, 12 years after i first heard them, still listening to Repubica's self-titled CD. get it! you wont be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ready To Go?, August 4, 2005

I remember how thrilled I was to hear this when it first came out. Almost a decade later and it is still a hot album! It is full of great tracks, energetic tracks, and a few sexy tracks. This is a cool album to have. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Close to 9 years later... Still an Awesome Album !, June 18, 2005
This review is from: Republica (Audio CD)
I remember hearing "Ready To Go" on the radio and then seeing them on tv and all back in my Jr High days (wow, has it been THAT long?).

Ready To Go was and still is a catcy tune, and in a rare instance, that song sets the tone for the majority of the album.

REPUBLICA is definitely a blend of rock, pop, techno and electronica... and the formula close to 9 years after its initial release is still a FRESH sound to hear it today. The lyrics are pretty good if you take a good listen to them, the beats and sounds speaks for themselves.

Out Of The Darkeness is one song that to this days gets me dancing and ready to go (no pun intended) for a night out.

Wrap is one of the shortest songs on here, but quite sexy for the lyrics.

Drop Dead gorgeous was a definite gem WAY before it was featured in the movie SCREAM.

Other highlights include BITCH and GET OFF, but the entire album is great to listen to from beginning to end.

A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE!

Definite 4.5 out of 5 stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars From my lunch hour with love..., April 11, 2001

This CD was great when I got it, and I still listen to it... but if you really want a better taste of Republica, check out Speed Ballads. If you're also a Garbage fan, the difference is comparable to the sound of Garbage from Version 2.0 (much more sophisticated and well-groomed).

Go pay the extra couple of dollars for it (import only)... it's well worth it (even if they HAD to name one of their songs Millennium).

5.0 out of 5 stars A mosaic of alternative musics from the last 15 years., January 6, 1999

Great dance music that can also be appreciated by the serious musician, for it has all the elements of sophistication, yet you can also just have fun with it.Overlooked is the track [Picture Me]. IT is a fourth gear cruise tune but takes a moment to rev-up! Great guitar power chords, smart bass grooves, Saffron's sexiness and oh yeah, great tough vocals, what more can there be? Another album! I'm sold!!!!
