Editorial Reviews

This 2009 release is the darkest and angriest record they have ever recorded. Requiem is a brooding, furious Metal masterpiece that blends the incredible hooks and melody of their last opus, Fear Will Cast No Shadow and their first two Southern thrashers Revelations Of The Unsung and Embrace The Gutter. The biggest standout from the previous record is the fact that Requiem is a pure adrenaline rush of confrontationally spiteful lyrics and sinister musicianship. The band's technical prowess is top-notch and they are not here to mess around. This is unadulterated, aggressive Metal that will level the Hard Rock world.

2.0 out of 5 stars What happened?, July 10, 2010
This review is from: Requiem (Audio CD)
I love The Autumn Offering but they messed up this album. I don't know what effect they use on the screams but it sounds like hes sreaming out of a toilet bowl or maybe a fish tank. Maybe Im being harsh but I left this in my cars cd player and listened to it for 2 weeks straight all the songs sound the same drab sound to them blended together after 20 hours of listening i still cant distinguish the songs apart or know any of the words.. but there is one song that stands out in the whole album which is "Bleed Together" but even in this case it sounds like a song Bullet For My Valentine would put out. I loved Embrace the Gutter and even more so Fear Will Cast No Shadow The vocals sound crisp and brutally awesome but i can't say that about Requiem. As a vocalist myself I find it very annoying when bands use vocal effects or autotune to change their sound. For fans of The Autumn Offering I would have to suggest to buy a different album first..

5.0 out of 5 stars This Will Blow Your Speakers!!, August 22, 2009
This review is from: Requiem (Audio CD)
Requiem is an excellent release by The Autumm Offering. This release is heavier than the prevoius release. The vocals are brutal, generally heavier with less clean vocals,I think Matt McChesney is one of the best vocalists in metal and rock. The guitars are insane, high speed rhythm and lead guitars that don't stop, Tommy Church and Matt Johnson are one hell of guitarists. The drum work is some of the best I have heard recently. Some of the highlight tracks are The Curtain Hits the Cast, Venus Mourning, Worn Out Wings, and Obsidian Halo, (all tracks are great). There songs are catchy and I can not stop playing this CD. I agree with another reviewer that there could have been some tracks with more clean vocals. Great band to see live. One of the best releases of 2009.

Dang I thought these guys on there last masterpeice would make you feel like you had to headbang until you neck stoped working. Nope on this album tao is back and angry at the world. The biggest differance between this album and the last one is the heavy factor. Reqruiem is a combonation of embrace the gutter and fear will cast no shadow combine, mixed with a little tlc of there own. The drums in this album are bone tingiling but the vocals arnt quite as sharp as before. I think they lost some melody on vocals here but at the same time opened up something else? These guys really like to change it up if you have liked there last album you will like this album as well. The only turn down In my opinion was I thought fear ablbum was more melodic on clean vocals and on requiem singing isi'nt as clean but still very good and dark. Some fun solos as well, and in the end this is a epic offering.......
