My son received the Aquatic Command Center for his birthday and LOVES it, it has a lot of neat features. I cant say enough good things about it. I was really surprised at how big it is after its assembled. He hasnt stopped playing with it since he got it. My 4 year old son is absolutely obsessed with Rescue Heroes. We have many of the figures, videos, all of the previous vehicles (old command center, turbo jet, fire truck, EMV, etc.) As much as I think the Rescue Heroes line of toys are wonderful and inspire imaginative play, I was disappointed in this new command center. For such an expensive toy (and for one that takes up so much space--it's huge!) I felt it does not have a lot of "active" features. The so-called "video" screen is nothing more than reflective pictures that "shimmer" for a simulated motion. Not that impressive after the first couple of times. The "elevator" is a joke--the Rescue Heroes fall off easily and it is difficult to maneuver up and down. The toy is basically just a large holding place for the watercraft, turbojet and helicopter. All in all, it is a durable, well built toy (except for the elevator) but I don't think it is worth the money. My son plays with all the figures (which are relatively cheap) for hours a day. The aquatic command center hardly keeps his attention. Believe me, I am a huge Rescue Hero fan, but I would wait for a big sale before purchasing this one.

He also has the first command center and many of the figures he got for Christmas last year and all still look brand new despite the general abuse of a 5 yr old... the whole line of these toys are extremely durable! Well worth the investment as it will last for years!

My 4 year old son loves this toy. I couldn't believe how big it actually is. It was kind of hard to put together
(especially with kids hanging over your shoulder)but it was definately worth it! He has spent hours with this thing. The only part I have a problem with is the elevator. It is hard for a little one to use without turning it sideways. Otherwise this is a great toy.

We bought this for our son who just turned 4. He has been dying for this toy, since Christmas. I waited until I got it on sale for $, and I was glad I waited. It is way over-priced. This toy is so much better than the other command center.It has so much more to do. My son got this a few weeks ago, and hasn't stopped playing with it, like he did the with the other command center (older version), which fell apart fast. This one is durable, but the elevator has to be moved manually, and he has a hard time using that. The features are entertaining for him. It talks, with Warren Waters voice as he announces earthquakes, and fires. It comes with a killer whale that can be hoisted up with a platform. He loved the part that shoots the water rescue floaters out to sea. It even has a landing pad for the helicopter, and airplane. This item is very big, and takes up a lot of space, but he loves it, and that's all that matters. I am glad that we got this for him, but shop around for a cheaper price, you'll be glad you did.

Caveat when considering this toy: it does take some time to put together. I'm rating the durability at three because we just bought it a few days ago and haven't really put it through the paces yet. It feels sturdy enough so long as it's not used as a stepping stool. You will need to get the action figures and it also begs to be joined by the other toys in this series. My son, who is 3, is very entertained by this toy, even more so when we play with him. There are videos based on these toys which I'm considering buying to help him "get it" even more. Another caveat: my son was a bit surprised by the images (volcano errupting, tsunami, etc.) on the screen, but it's certainly because he's rarely exposed to such things and these were new concepts for him.

My five year old got this for Christmas a year ago. Him and his friends play with the rescue heroes for hours and loved the space station. However, this thing is NEVER played with. They are still playing with the space station and I would recomend getting that if it's still sold. Problem is a family member got aqua center for him so I don't want to get rid of it yet. It's very big and takes up a lot of room. However, I gave it 5 stars for durability since it's only use is when my 2 year old uses it as a step stool to get to the toys on the shelf!

My son played 2 yrs with all his figures..he is now 5. We had the original command center and thought the aquatic one might be a blast. The original one had a great elevator and he played with the voice recorder for hours. The new one, he did not give the time of day. The elevator was a joke and a platform would not stay on. It took up half of my dining room which I would have happily sacrificed if only he actually played with the toy. I said good bye to it last night as we donated it to a daycare in the area. My son did not even mind to see it go. (And we know how kids hate to part with toys)

My sons love their Rescue Heroes, so when they got this gift last year -- they were very excited! Yes, I must say if you don't have the room -- don't purchase this item -- it 3 feet long by 1-1/2 wide! I have a small home and after receiving this toy, I had my bar (which we never used any how) taken down and a toy closet put up! My sons play with their Aquatic Rescue Command Center a lot! It is played with every time that they play with their figures. It definitely is the central gathering place for their Rescue Heroes awaiting to get their next task. If your child or children have Rescue Heroes -- this is a must, that's if you have the room! It comes with a cool battery-operated message center that has a virtual video screen -- just insert the video card to see and hear Warren Waters assign the Rescue Heroes one of the six missions. Rescue Hero Mission Command figures can talk with Warren Waters by inserting a talking mission card. My sons really get to use their imagination playing with all that is involved with this center, such as pivoting the rescue crane. It comes with a whale figurine, an elevator, a buoy, a life preserver launcher, backpack storage area, and hidden living quarters. This Command Center is made of VERY sturdy plastic (my 1-1/2 year old sat on it a few times and nothing happened) and is very durable and though it is VERY big, my sons use it all the time -- so it was definitely worth the $$$$$

5.0 out of 5 stars Really fun toy for 4 years and older, March 18, 2002
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

Summary:

Kids love to play with it;
Great toy for imaginative play;
Assembly straight-forward;
Decals more difficult to apply;
Sturdy and durable.

Review:

Our 4 year old boy, and 5 year old girl love to play with this toy for hours on end.

It was fairly easy to assemble, but has more pieces to put together than most toys; so it took a little longer. The pieces fit together well, and the instructions were clearly illustrated.

The decals were more frustrating, the instructions missed a few decal numbers / locations, so we had to guess.

It is durable, is able to "crash" well, and have rescue heros "jump" all over it.

It's a fairly large toy, with many littel nooks and crannies for the action heros to play in.
That, and it's sophisticated details support really imaginative play.

Price:

I guess I have turned into my father: It seems a bit pricy for a bunch of plastic parts! It is worth the price, but for the price, one could combine the purchase of several other toys, instead. But, it does seem worth the price and have good play value for the money.

Age Appropriateness:

I think 4 years old is probably the youngest age for this child. There are a lot of other really good toys, that are less expensive and support more age appropriate play if your child is younger.

Although this may be a pretty solid toy with a couple of neat features our 4-year old son does not play with it very often. ... it is so big he cannot move it around easily. He plays more with the RH fire truck with the water cannon.
