It is amazing how many of those little beetles are caught.

I received the trap yesterday and literally 10 minutes after hanging, there was a swarm of 100's of beetles!

I have oriental beetles and they go after my rose bush and pretty much eat every flower.

I will start with I didn't buy this trap from Amazon because I found it cheaper at a local garden shop (my last stop in my search before having to order and wait).

My garden has been decimated by beetles this year and I was looking to get revenge! I have tried other traps in the past, but never really bagged a bunch of beetles. I read about this trap in a few places and thought I would give it a whirl. I had few expectations, but boy was I wrong! The minute I opened the lure I was attacked by japanese beetles! My yard literally came alive! The ground started to move and the beetles were swarming! In the video you can see the beetles flying around the trap, but it doesn't capture the true amount of beetles that were out!

My advice, be ready to hang your trap as soon as you open the lure if you don't want to have beetles attacking you. I had my hangar all ready to go after the first trap was set, because the first time I was covered by beetles. Also, WASH your hands, they will follow you if you touch the lure!

This is one trap that I will be rebuying each season! The traps are reusable for the season.

I read about folks who say having the traps attracts more bugs - but without them my cherry trees, green beans and many other plants are completely destroyed.
**SIDE BENEFIT** If you own any type of fowl - this is a delicacy at the end of every collection day. I slowly empty all the bugs (through the hand ziploc bottom) in front of my chickens - they go crazy. So, no dangerous pesticide, happy chickens, and my plants are safe.
No matter what happens I will have these beetles in my yard. If I attract more, well I do - but they all go to the bag due an excellent attractant with this product.
I bought the 10 pack and 4 stands. I hope this company stays in business a long time because the Bag a Bug brand does NOT cut it at all. I did a side by side test of the two types - 95% of the beetles were capture in these traps.
In fact, the attractant is so good, that while my husband was assembling the traps about 40 beetles left my plants and flew in the carton.

I ordered two traps to add to my other two Tanglefoot brand traps, the Sterling traps were about half the price. All four traps bring in the beetles to the point where I am emptying three of the traps twice a day. Here is the problem: one of the Sterling traps never had more than a few beetles after three days. I found that the bottom seal of the bag was not sealed. I have returned it and I am sure I will get my money back. In the mean time the other Sterling trap has started to have an open seam also. It seems that just the act of opening the plastic slider to let the beetles fall into a container for disposal opens the seal. I will now tape the seal shut and let it fill and throw it away. Also, the Sterling trap requires two people to empty and the Tanglefoot empties very easily with just one person. The Tanglewood is definitely worth the money. I would caution everyone not to buy The Sterling trap.
When I read the other review of the Sterling trap before I purchased it, I felt it unfair that the person had mentioned that she thought the traps in general made the beetle problem worse. I now see her point and agree. I have had the beetle problem for two years and now feel that the traps bring in bugs from a great distance and might make the problem worst. I am comparing last years problem with this years( not exactly scientific). Spraying might be a better solution, though as an home organic gardener, my last statement is hard to stomach. So far I have caught about 25 pounds of bugs, more than a gallon a day on two acres of land with three working traps. I am considering removing the traps and see if things get better or worse. Last year the beetles mostly infested four trees, Lindens, the Birch and Mountain Ash. I now have beetles in the corn, beans, some flowers, blueberries, egg plant, apple trees and the same trees infected last year. Consider well whether the use of traps is the answer.

These pests have destroyed my hosta bed for the last time! I try to avoid using insect sprays, and these are a great alternative and definitely the best choice!

Several years fighting the Japanese Beetles in North Central Florida. After more than a week less than a hand full total in two traps. Using a Hudson type sprayer with blue Dawn and water works better. Soak the beetle quick and he's gone to bug heaven. They love and kill Honey Suckle, Layland Cypress and Pine trees. Traps may have 2 dozen total now, can get 40-50 in few minutes with sprayer. Very disappointed with this product. Waste of my money. When u see one land in lawn, usually 4-5 there, spray with soapy water. So sad the damage these beetles do. Good luck.

I purchased two of these. I was immediately impressed with how well they attracted and trapped the beetles.

However, in less than one week, the zippers detached from the sides of both bags. This allows the beetles to exit through the bottom. It appears that whatever process was used to attach the zippers to the bags was not effective.

I would suggest buying cheaper, disposable traps or investing in sturdy reusable traps.

These are the ONLY traps that work as well as they do in the summer. I also have used the "bag a bug" which work well, but not nearly as well as these. Glad to have found a replacement.
