I couldn't believe how great this produt worked. I no sooner opened the bait package and I was being swarmed by Japanese bettles. I had to rush to get it hung on a pole to get the beetles off me while I was holding the trap. I haven't seen one beetle on my rose bushes since I put out the traps.

BEETLE QUEEN,
This review is from: Rescue Japanese Beetle Trap with Attractant JBTD-SF16 (Lawn & Patio)
My husband and I have a small tree farm in pa. we have about 50 acres but only 5 are planted in hard wood trees. The beetles have been really bad almost destroying the trees, we were using the other beetle traps but they don't last long with the animals wanting to eat the beetles especially racoons. I saw these traps at lowes and thought they were alot bigger and heavier and gave a couple a try, well I'll have you know they worked wonderful.I have 12 in our fields and EVERY night I empty the bags into a 5 gallon bucket and it is full when I get done! I reuse the bags ,they are very durable and the lure last all season, now I can't find any they are all sold out must be working for other people also. A+ from PA.

I bet everyone knows how this works, right? There is a slippery bag and some pellet at the mouth that smells in ways that attracts the Japanese Beetles. They try to get to the pellet but they fall in the bag and they can't come out of it because it's slippery and there's not enough room for them to take flight. This is so efficient, you could get 'pounds' of beetles after the first couple of days. Disposal is a little bit of a problem because there's nothing that kills them. So, after a few days, you end up with a bagful of mostly alive insects, desperately struggling to get out of there. The good side of this: they don't kill you fruit trees. They almost managed to destroy a couple before they got this treat but if you can't stand the idea of mass insect entrapment... think of something else.

Very easy to set up. Be sure to have a tall stake on which to hang the trap. We have used a metal post with a hook made for a bird feeder. The first day of use, I estimated catching about 200 beetles. The only thing one needs to watch is the WEATHER. Move it under cover if it's going to rain. If you haven't heard the weatherman but notice the absence of Japanese beetles on your plants or at the trap, that's a positive clue that rain is in the forecast (or its after 3 PM when the beetles return to their nests in the ground).

I have tried sprays for my trees and rose bushes and if I killed a few hundred I was lucky. I set up 10 traps around my 2 acre lot and within the past three weeks I have trapped 20 lbs plus!! I can't believe how great they work! A+++

These bags worked wonders. We hung them on shepards hooks away from the house and in an empty lot next door. Within 3 days these bags were completely full. I think between the 2 of them there literally must have been 20 pounds of beetles. They do their job. These are an excellent alternative to poision to get rid of this nasty little critters.

Works Great without Poison Sprays,
This review is from: Rescue Japanese Beetle Trap with Attractant JBTD-SF16 (Lawn & Patio)
The Japanese beetles have been destroying the blooms on my cannas when I place them in front of the house. This is the first time I have ever had problems with beetles, and I used a spray to control it. Problem is that they are back in 3 weeks, and I must wait 4 weeks between spraying, plus I wear rubber gloves in the spray process, and must watch wind, etc. to protect myself from poison spray.I saw these traps at Costco, and decided to give them a try. I placed them about 30 feet from the cannas, around the corner from the canna bed. I suddenly saw flying beetles near the trap. I didn't even know they could fly. I always saw them on the canna flower petals, and no where else. In about an hour, I looked in the bag and saw about a dozen beetles. It's amazing how fast this works, and how far the scent carries to attract them. I have a 1/3 acre lot, and recommendation is 2-3 traps. I think that just the one trap may do it. If rain threatens, I'll cover the trap with a big plastic bag to protect it. Instructions with the product say nothing about rain protection, but the other reviewer mentioned it. This is much better and cheaper than poison sprays.

When I retired and started gardening in earnest, I was swarmed with Japanese beetles eating everything. I tried various traps and these were the ones that attracted and trapped the most by far. There were beetles everywhere banging against the windows, flying in swarms so thick I couldn't even walk to my vegetable garden without being hit multiple times. Gross! I'd had the beetles before, but for the first time they really annoyed me because of the damage they did to my newly developed gardens.I hung four of these traps and two each of three other kinds around my property. Right from the start, I preferred these because they were so easy to set up and hang--but would the beetles prefer them? They did. I found plenty in each. If the bag fills up, there's a plastic slide on the bottom that you can open to dump the dead bugs, then close to begin collecting more. I've never gotten that many bugs (the bags are generous), but it's handy if the bag fills with water from a heavy rain. You can smell the lure to begin with, but it fades quickly enough that it's no longer noticeable to humans. It's not an unpleasant smell, but not what you'd want as ambiance at your outdoor party, so I recommend hanging the traps a week before any outside event you're planning. Since none of the other traps caught nearly as many bugs as these (and some other brands caught none at all), these were the ones I purchased the second year. Again success, even though I noticed fewer beetles overall. This is the third year I've used this brand, now exclusively, and amazingly, I haven't noticed one beetle flying around. I thought it was still too early until I looked in the traps yesterday. There are enough bugs in there that I know the beetles are active, but where are the swarms I'd gotten used to seeing? I can only assume that because I'm trapping so many, my overall population is dwindling dramatically. I hadn't expected this development, but am thrilled. I can't speak highly enough in praise of these traps. It is a pleasure to be outside in late June and July (except for the heat!) for the first time in many years.
