5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling romantic suspense anthology, June 8, 2008
Three talented authors come together to deliver a trio of action-packed romantic adventures that will leave you dreaming of your own hero! Indeed, I would be more than happy to have any of the heroes in this anthology RESCUE ME!

Individually, each story in RESCUE ME earns a top rating of five. Together, they will more than knock your socks off!

~TROPICAL HEAT by Cherry Adair~

When the woman he loves is kidnapped by a ruthless terrorist, Sam Pelton will do whatever it takes to save Elizabeth. Braving the jungles of Africa and a cadre of villains that would make most men quake in their boots, Sam puts all of his skills as a special ops agent to use in order to rescue her.

Why, oh why have I not read Cherry Adair's work sooner? TROPICAL HEAT was my first taste of this author's talent and left me wanting more!

When we meet Sam and Elizabeth, they are thick in the middle of danger, after dancing around each other romantically for the last year. Well, to be perfectly honest, Elizabeth didn't think she was even on Sam's radar, although he was all she thought about since her divorce.

As it turns out, Sam was just biding his time, but he certainly had plans for the beautiful doctor. Plans that are moved up when he very nearly loses her in a way all too permanent. Sam pulls out all the stops, and shows himself to both Elizabeth and readers as the hero he truly is, leaving us to fall desperately in love with this man, just as Elizabeth does.

~ATLANTA HEAT by Lora Leigh~

Macey March is the most irreverent, troublesome member of his team of Navy SEALs. His antics have earned him a few demotions in rank along the way, and the ire of the Admiral himself. Emerson Delaney, the Admiral's delicious little goddaughter has played no small part in those troubles. It seems Macey just can't stay away from the imp, no matter how bad a career move it is to put the moves on her.

When Emerson is kidnapped by terrorists intent on wreaking revenge on the Admiral through his beloved goddaughter, Macey will stop at nothing to rescue her from danger. That's the easy part. The hard part comes afterwards - keeping her safe until they ferret out the mole whose very existence continues to threaten the woman that Mace comes to realize he can't live without.

As a major fan of Lora Leigh's, I chose to read RESCUE ME strictly because of her story in it, and once again, she didn't disappoint. ATLANTA HEAT is part of her popular TEMPTING SEALS series, and tells the story of that bad boy we've come to know and love in the previous books - Mason March.

Macey may come across as a bad boy, but in this novella we find that deep down, he is a family man at heart, and he only has eyes for Emerson Delaney, no matter how much trouble he has landed himself in through his previous interactions with her. That should tell him something right there, right? Macey isn't into denial, and he knows that Emerson is the woman for him. Of course, he has also gathered quite a bit of intel on the object of his considerable affections, and knows it will take a lot to win her trust and her heart.

Holing up with her in his safe-house provides the perfect opportunity for an all-out romantic assault, Macey-style. Emerson never stands a chance!

This heroine isn't at all shy and submissive, though, and she gives to Macey as good as she gets. He calls her an imp, and it is a description she has earned. She can't resist playing the smart-aleck, especially when under extreme duress. That wise-cracking attitude, however, covers a vulnerable core that believes she will always be alone. It's a good thing Macey knows just how to break through that core...

After waiting a long time for Macey's story, he surpassed my ideals. ATLANTA HEAT is a sensual treat that will raise your temperature and keep you coming back for more!

~DESERT HEAT by Cindy Gerard~

Seth King and Elena Martinez should be on the same side. After all he is a police detective and she is an assistant D.A. True, their goals may be aligned, but they have very different ideas of how to best serve justice.

When this unlikely pair is teamed together on a scavenger hunt for charity, they are isolated together in the wilderness of the Grand Canyon - or so they think. Someone is watching them, and that someone will seize their chance for vengeance very soon. But before that happens, they find that sometimes oil and water really do mix well as they discover a deep-seated attraction for each other...

Cindy Gerard is another new author for me, and I enjoyed her story as much as I did the first two in the RESCUE ME anthology.

Unexpected romance in the great outdoors is the theme for DESERT HEAT, and I have to say that a hero like Seth King makes me wish I were more outdoorsy myself! I'd love to share a sleeping bag built for two with this sexy alpha male. Heck, I'd like to share a sleeping bag built for one with him! *grin* Seth's determination to see to Elena's safety when violence threatens is the stuff heroes are made of, and his willingness to sacrifice himself for her will melt even the hardest of hearts.

Of course, it certainly has that effect on Elena herself, who had already begun to respond to Seth's magnetism before the enemy struck, but once she sees who this man is deep down, she is hopelessly smitten. This intrepid heroine pulls her own weight in their rescue, however, and it is no stretch of the imagination to understand why a man like Seth would fall for her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Five Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies!, July 1, 2008
Rescue with a bit of heat is the theme of this intense and sultry anthology penned by three of the most talented writers of romantic suspense today. Don't miss it!

TROPICAL HEAT by Cherry Adair

Unwittingly kidnapped by terrorists, Dr. Elizabeth Goodall is being held at knifepoint and informed that she is going to reconstruct the face of one of the most wanted men in the world. Being a doctor has its perks but this isn't one of them, especially since Beth is not the world renowned plastic surgeon the criminal thinks she is. Biding her time before she has to perform surgery, Beth convinces her captors to allow her to rest. As she frantically tries to find a way out, rescue comes in the form of Sam Pelton, a counterterrorist operative. He also happens to be the man in love with her.

TROPICAL HEAT by Cherry Adair starts this enticing anthology with a bang. Sam has been in love with Beth ever since he first laid eyes on her, but his honor would not let him hurt Beth's marriage by revealing his desires. Now, when she and her husband have gone their separate ways, Beth is taken from Sam before he can act on his suppressed feelings. Acting as the extremely well trained killer he is, Sam is going to get his woman back.

ATLANTA HEAT by Lora Leigh

Emerson Delaney is the type of woman to get under a man's skin - or as Macey March desires, just simply under him. Desire is a vastly underrated word when it comes to what Macey feels for Ms. Delaney. However, having been threatened by his superior and holding the demotion papers to prove it, Macey knows that Emerson is off limits. That is, until he receives a midnight phone call informing him that Emerson has been kidnapped. All bets are off with this Navy SEAL, and it is his job to get Emerson back. Macey knows that once he rescues her, he will never let her be taken from him again.

Lora Leigh's contribution, ATLANTA HEAT, is flat out scorching. The chemistry between Emerson and Macey is instantaneous and as such kept me glued to the pages. Macey knew that Emerson was going to be the one woman to bring him to his knees and the fact that he welcomed this made me love him all the more. As for Emerson Delaney? Every girl needs a best friend like Emerson. I can only imagine the trouble she can get into when she is not with Macey. Charismatic, flirtatious, and innocently tempting, Emerson took great pleasure in keeping her man on his toes. When he fell, he fell right into her arms - just where she wanted him to be.

DESERT HEAT by Cindy Gerard

Elena Martinez is an assistant district attorney and her nemesis, the man she butts heads with in court, Seth King, is a detective. More than once sparks have flown in the courtroom because of their different personalities. Imagine their surprise when they are teamed up in a charity scavenger hunt in the Grand Canyon. It seems that for all their bluster and blunder around each other, they are more in tuned with each other than either of them expected. When two crazed killers come after them with murder on their minds, Elena and Seth rely on more than their training; they rely on each other - with sizzling results.

DESERT HEAT is the third contribution to the RESCUE ME anthology and as such nicely sets the tone for the reader to be satisfied at the book's end. Elena and Seth were oil and water - but, mix up what is normal for them and add a bit of suspense and danger, and the results were an alluring and highly charged read. Seth was dreamy and resourceful and I loved his irreverence when trying to entice Elena. She gave as well as she got and when the smoke cleared, what Elena got was the love of her life.

When three of the best authors I have ever read team up to write a common themed anthology, I can't help but hope that all three of their contributions would be installments that I'd enjoy. With RESCUE ME, my worries were for naught. Each installment, while having a common theme, carried its own weight and as such, was magnificent in its own right. TROPICAL HEAT by Cherry Adair kept me on my toes with hot, fast paced action and a hero worthy of cover model status. DESERT HEAT, Cindy Gerard's contribution, while full of intense drama, made me smile more than once while reading the banter between Seth and Elena. Then you have ATLANTA HEAT by Lora Leigh. This was the middle novella in RESCUE ME but it is by no means `middle of the road'. The first scene grabbed me and I was held spellbound the entire book. Macey's bad boy looks and Emerson's delightful and curious nature drew me in and I found their romance breathtaking and beautiful. The heat and passion between Macey and Emerson made me blush one minute and laugh the next. I couldn't get enough of these two characters and was actually sad to see their story end.

RESCUE ME is an anthology to be savored and read over and over. Emotionally charged and highly powerful at times, RESCUE ME combines three talented authors and comes up a winner. No matter which author is your favorite, this anthology is a decadent and romantic read and a worthy addition to any keeper shelf.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff, but more on the line of television episodes, May 31, 2009
By Born in a Library (California) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Rescue Me (Paperback)
The first story was like an episode of "24". The cardboard jungle bad guys and their insane idea to kidnap the best plastic surgeon to completely rearrange a face in one operation when reality requires months of work? I liked the lovers, but the story was predictable and formulaic.
The second story was as insufferable as the character of Emerson. Why would a guy like Macey want with such a dumb, sexy twit? I could barely finish this one.
The third story was the best of the bunch. Aside from the end which was a bit over the top, there was real chemistry, real emotions and a believable love story. This was the story that was worth the price of the book.
