...and now my grandson is enjoying this Little Golden Book that's a condensed version of the movie! My mother and I brought my baby sister and my older son (both were 6 at the time - how wonderful to have had babies just 3 months apart!) to see the 1990 Disney movie this book was based on, and although it didn't do too well at the box office, the kids enjoyed it and the book does a pretty good job of covering the main aspects of the movie and all of the characters... main character Cody, Marahute the golden eagle, Bernard & Miss Bianca the field (agent!) mice from the Rescue Aid Society, Wilbur the albatross (both pilot AND plane!), Jake the hopping Australian mouse, Faloo and Red the kangaroos, Krubbs the koala, Frank the frill-necked lizard, along with dastardly McLeach the poacher and his nasty pet lizard Joanna. It was nice to re-live a good memory of time with my own son as I read this book to my older grandson over lunch one day, and I'm sure my younger grandson and another gift from "the stork" who'll be arriving in September will enjoy it just as well! We paid a little more than the typical $3.99 price for Little Golden Books ($4.67), but this was a little harder to find. Another thing I'd point out is the discrepancy there seems to be with the ISBN numbers... we received a 1990 HARDCOVER version with ISBN 0307000826 (Amazon lists that as the paperback ISBN number, but it's the hardcover ISBN), as well as the fact that it was supposed to be "new"... it's definitely not new, but is in very good shape.

I recently bought the Rescuers Down Under movie for my son and it became an instant favorite. I bought this book for my son to go with my Disney book collection I had when I was a little girl;he loves it!Book is pretty true to the movie(not sure which came first),some small details were left out though. Overall this is a wonderful book, with beautiful illustrations. A must have for any Disney book collection.
