Book Description

Maura's parents got a divorce when she was eight and she hasn't seen or spoken to her dad for seventeen years. When she inherits her grandparents' cabin in the mountains of North Carolina, she is shocked and curious. She persuades Paige, her mother, that they should go and stay in the cabin for a few days before they list it for sale.
Jason is a carpenter by trade, but he's willing to help a friend by exterminating Maura's house. She persuades him to give the ladybugs a reprieve, and by time they part, each is trying to think of a good excuse to contact the other.
Paige realizes that Maura and Jason are falling in love and does her best to discourage the relationship. When Maura insists on remaining in North Carolina, Paige flies back to Missouri without her.
No one predicted that Maura's father would show up. The story he tells doesn't match facts with the story Paige has told, and Maura is convinced that neither of her parents deserve her forgiveness. According to Jason, that's why it's called grace ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and Sentimental September 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Life sounds like an easy recipe, right: grow up, find a job you love, get married, and live happily ever after. At 25 years old, Maura still acts like a teenager, hates her job, and has never found a man worth marrying. She's estranged from her father, wavers in her faith, and has no idea what she wants to do with her life. Then she meets Jason.

This not-quite-love story will have you wondering what decisions Maura will make and if she will ever have a happily ever after.

Most of this book has you in Maura's head. As a coming of age type story for a girl who is maturing late, it works very well to show you how so many of our young women are stuck in the shoes of teenagers and are unwilling to grow up. I love the surrounding characters in this easy, expressive read. And love how the Gospel message is as much a part of the story line as growing up is.

This book is filled with excellent principles and quite an enjoyable read. A bit slow and preachy in parts but I still enjoyed the story.

A great book that started me reading books by Diane Adams! The book reveals you can not always believe what you are told by those that love you including your parent(s). I do not want to spoil the plot but the book is one that will make you delay other things so you can read. I recommend this book and others by Diane Adams.

More About the Author

I have been writing since fifth grade, anytime I could find a quiet corner and prop a notebook on my knees. Even if I couldn't find the time or place, I always-always-always kept writing in my head. I tried to give it up more than once, even shredding a knee-high stack of poems and story starts. In time, I always go back to it because it brings me a unique sort of joy - the kind that springs from deep inside. Over the years, I've had a few nice responses from traditional publishers and a semi promise twice ... though I now know those aren't worth the paper they're not printed on. I was feeling pretty discouraged when a friend sent me an ad for self publishing on the Internet. Since I had quit my job to write full time (in spite of the fact that we were ranked with the working poor even while I was working) the 'no cost' factor caught my eye! I thought about it for awhile ... I had written more than 20 books and it looked as if they would all disappear when I did. Why not introduce all those characters via the Internet and give them a chance to survive? So here I am - Christian, wife, mother, grandma, author! I'm working hard to edit those books in the hope that readers will find a message that inspires them to delve into the best Book of all. I don't know you, but I know He loves you, and that's what my books are about. Blessings!
