Practical information for researchers,
This review is from: Research Design in Clinical Psychology (4th Edition) (Paperback)
I've used Kazdin's book for several years now in planning my own research in the area of developmental psychopathology. I can see why others have criticized the book as being long-winded and somewhat dry - I wouldn't recommend reading the book cover-to-cover. However, the book is filled with practical advice on how to design research studies in the areas of clinical or abnormal psychology. I especially like Kazdin's discussion of the threats to internal and external validity that commonly plague research. I'd recommend this book as a "handbook" for researchers to reference when they need to look up specific topics or to plan a new project.

This text is easy to follow with lots of examples. It can be a little redundant for people who have a good background in research; however, for beginners, it's a really good text.

As a third year grad student, I read A LOT of textbooks. I can say that this is one of the better ones, with clear definitions and lots of examples. A great asset for any student.

Item was shipped on time for my class. Got it in good condition in terms of shipping to me. The book has a LOT of highlighting. Not written with pen nor pencil, but yes a LOT of highlighting. I had purchased many school books in used good condition and this is the 1st one I receive like that. I guess the correct condition for this book might be "fare", not "good". No missing nor torn pages. The only good thing with this order is the shipping process. It arrived on time and as expected. Also vendor was contacted via email and I got a reply within a 24 hr period. I expected the book in better condition being the price around the 85 dollars as noted by other sellers with the same condition. Tks ! I have my book!

If you have a choice, go with another book.,
This review is from: Research Design in Clinical Psychology (4th Edition) (Paperback)
This is an awful textbook. It has no organization to speak of. The author seems to repeat himself over and over before finally getting around to the point. In my opinion the book could be at least 25% shorter without any significant loss of information. To his credit, he does try to liven up the otherwise dry subject matter with occasional jokes, but for the most part they fall flat.

If you ever needed a book to put you to sleep this is the one. The theories described are good, but the book is so dry it is a chore to get through each page.
