Face it: most college students do not read every single word and page in a textbook.

With such a complex class, I would say this textbook did a fairly good job in providing brief but understandable material. Granted, it might not be the best of methods, but it allows the reader to skim through some parts and read the ever so useful "Main Points" at the end of every chapter. Then, for a fast paced student like me with so many classes, I could just read back on the pages I NEED to read to understand certain concepts.

Have fun researching!

This book discusses methods of researching. Some of the techniques of a good research should include methods like attributes, qualitative and quantitative measures. This book can be a little confusing if you are not familiar with this type of research.

This book definitely comes in handy and it was a good price considering how expensive it is on other sites and the school. However, it is far from new. There's writing (notes) on the last few pages of the book that you cannot miss. Things are highlighted in the book and from the first view of the book the cover clearly shows that IT IS NOT NEW OR EVEN FAIRLY NEW! If it is not new it goes under the used books list period. I wiped the cover and the top and bottom part of the book off with sanitizing cloths because I do not buy used books and I am very picky about touching them when you can tell first hand that it has been used.

I had to use this textbook for a criminal justice research class. I found it to be poorly written and extremely dry. Granted, research methods aren't exactly the most interesting topic in the world, but in my opinion this book not only fails to adequately discuss the topics it presents, it poorly presents them. Complex concepts are not fleshed out enough and multiple topics are fired at you like the book is a machine gun. The problem is, they're all similar and tend to run together due to the lack of definitive discussion on each. Unfortunately, this may be the worst textbook that I have ever had to use.

Not much to say other than this was the book that my instructor had required for class. It was in great condition and beats the campus bookstore price.
