4.0 out of 5 stars Does A Good Job
Face it: most college students do not read every single word and page in a textbook.

With such a complex class, I would say this textbook did a fairly good job in providing brief but understandable material. Granted, it might not be the best of methods, but it allows the reader to skim through some parts and read the ever so useful "Main Points" at the end of...

2.0 out of 5 stars Dry
This textbook is the dullest book ever!!! This textbook gave me a headache every time I had to read a chapter. It doesn't explain critical things in the simplest form and I find the chapters too wordy to be saying too much of nothing.

With such a complex class, I would say this textbook did a fairly good job in providing brief but understandable material. Granted, it might not be the best of methods, but it allows the reader to skim through some parts and read the ever so useful "Main Points" at the end of every chapter. Then, for a fast paced student like me with so many classes, I could just read back on the pages I NEED to read to understand certain concepts.

Have fun researching!

4.0 out of 5 stars Research Methods for criminal justice, August 20, 2009
This review is from: Research Methods for Criminal Justice and Criminology (Hardcover)
This book discusses methods of researching. Some of the techniques of a good research should include methods like attributes, qualitative and quantitative measures. This book can be a little confusing if you are not familiar with this type of research.

4.0 out of 5 stars Boring textbook but great price!!, February 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you MUST have this textbook for a class I have to say it was pretty boring. The chapters are long and the information is repetitive. Unfortunately this book is not interesting but I will say that it was affordable! I bought it for my Criminal Justice Research Methods class and it was significantly CHEAPER than what my on-campus bookstore was selling it for. I would highly recommend ordering textbooks from Amazon. The textbooks are in great condition (I bought mine NEW) and the price is great!! The delivery was also on time which was great. I would not recommend this specific textbook if you want to read it for your own pleasure but if you HAVE to get it for a class then you won't find it at a better price anywhere else.

2.0 out of 5 stars poorly done textbook, September 20, 2007
This review is from: Research Methods for Criminal Justice and Criminology (Hardcover)
I had to use this textbook for a criminal justice research class. I found it to be poorly written and extremely dry. Granted, research methods aren't exactly the most interesting topic in the world, but in my opinion this book not only fails to adequately discuss the topics it presents, it poorly presents them. Complex concepts are not fleshed out enough and multiple topics are fired at you like the book is a machine gun. The problem is, they're all similar and tend to run together due to the lack of definitive discussion on each. Unfortunately, this may be the worst textbook that I have ever had to use.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!, May 29, 2011
I have read many, many text books. From Contracts texts and Torts texts, cover to cover. Never have I had such burning feelings of rage towards a text book. It is poorly formatted, too wordy, has the most infuriating 'profiles' (dropped smack bang in the middle of a paragraph) and had little in the way of succinct statements of principals.

Wildly angry at this text.
