Resident Evil 3: Nemisis is a most enjoyable and thoroughly terrifying game. If you love a good scare, along with a really fun game to play, this is your ticket! Although you don't have to have played any of the previous Resident Evil games to enjoy this, it would help. In any event, the scenario puts you into the heart of a town, Racoon City, being overrun with flesh eating zombies, ghastly mutated monsters and a big nasty killing machine by the name of Nemisis, all of whom have one thing on their minds: Kill you and make it very bloody and painful. Luckily, you, playing under the characters of Jill Valentine and Carlos, in respective portions of the game, come armed with some heavy duty firepower and the ability to outrun all of your attackers, even Nemisis if you're smart enough. This game doesn't shortchange you when it comes to horror; you will have the willies after playing this. I certainly did. It also delivers the goods on the gore factor too, so if you're squeamish, better to stay away, or look away at least when you open fire on the walking dead. There are also puzzles to tease your brain, as well as a good storyline worthy of a major motion picture. George Romero, director of the Night of the Living Dead, along with it's two sequels, would be proud of this zombie fest. On the downside, most of my complaints are with the storyline, more then anything else. In Resident Evil 2, certain things were explained and you understood the sinister greed behind the Umbrella Company's virus that turns people into zombies. Here, there doesn't seem to be much motivation behind a team of commandos, of which Carlos is one, for entering the fray. Also, the character of Nemisis himself is never explained, as no mention is made of where he comes from or why he's obsessed with killing the remaining S.T.A.R.S. rescue team, of which Jill is one. In Resident Evil 2, you found out that the behemoth who kept popping up to kill you at certain points was actually a scientist who injected himself with the G-virus. No such motive here for Nemesis, but in the grand scheme of this game, it's a minor flaw. So, if you're wondering if you should invest in this game or not, I say YES! Fire up your Playstation, Lock and load, try not to get eaten, and if you get really scared, leave the lights on when you play this! Welcome to the world of survival horror...

They did it again! On November 10, Capcom unleashed yet another nightmare to one of playstation best series; Resident Evil. When Resident Evil 3: Nemesis hit the shelf, it brought with it a brand new type of game play never before seen in the gaming world. What is it, you ask? True-to-life player interaction; with it's option of split second decision making feature. I've never felt more part of a game then I did when I first saw the choice screen. RE3 also adds to RE2 by giving some insight as to what happened to the town before Leon and Clair arrived. The backgrounds have improved greatly since the series first began, as have all the graphics for that matter. The story line and plot twists don't seem to be as involved as the previous games. However, what the scrip lacks the game play makes up for. A reloading tool has been added to you arsenal of weapons, allowing you to create more powerful ammo yourself. There are 10 new zombies which all have their own way of attack. And now there's an unstoppable force after you throughout the entire game. RE3 has by far the best ending of any RE along with a killer soundtrack. The puzzles are much better because they are totally random and change every time you play a new game. And there's an added bones game once you've finished the actual game. Like the RE's the preceded it, RE3 rewards players with free weapons and unlimited ammo, but unlike the earlier games, these gifts must be earned by winning the bones game and collecting money to buy them. This game is a must for any Resident Evil fan, and I would strongly recommend anyone interested in a good scare, or in the mood to try something new should pick this game up; then you'll see why millions of people are crazy of Resident Evil.

I'm a grrlgamer who loves to be scared, and I was not disappointed by RE3. I have both RE & RE2, and while RE3 is not a huge leap above RE2, it is still the most entertaining of the 3. I love that it takes place in so many different environments: warehouses, the street, even back in the police station, the setting of RE2. The easy setting really is easy, but it's a great way to get comfortable with the game. The bonus game that you get when you solve it makes it worth the price of the game alone. In Mercinaries, you play one of the "bad guys" who must make it to a certain point in 2 minutes. It sounds tough, but it is so fun (kind of like Operation Wipe Out in Dino Crisis). If you are an RE fan, don't hesitate to get this installment. I just can't wait until the RE series comes out on Playstation 2!

This game is definately one to add to your Playstation library if you are serious about gaming. Resident Evil 3 brings back it's favored theme; an arsenal of weapons, a horde of undead, and a creepy atmosphere. Survival horror is heightened to new levels with the addition of the dodge technique (much needed to add a sense of realism, 'cause who would stand there and get bitten?), loss of the cheesy B-movie feel, and ability to make ammo depending on what weapon you use the most. The game revolves around the central idea being escape from a city infested with blood thirsty zombies. A new enemy, Nemisis, is out to destroy the members of S.T.A.R.S. and cover up Umbrella's dark secrets. He is highly reminicent of RE2's Mr. X, with a habit of intruding at the wrong time in the wrong place. Breaking up the action are FMV-like segments where you make a choice affecting the games outcome. These "live selections" add a depth to the game utilizing background, and moves a real person would use in that situation. The only part that seemed to have confused some people were the setting. RE3 happens 24 hours before RE2 and follows simultaneously until the end which happens about 24 hours after RE2. Still confused? Then think of it as telling a similar story from another person's point of view. Overall, Resident Evil 3 entertains with new weapons, smarter enemys (they now open doors, climb stairs, and bust through anywhere they can), and great gameplay that will last for hours on end. Although what happened to Claire, Chris and Leon?

I thought the game was going to be more difficult. In fact, I found RE2 more difficult than this one. Also, I was expecting a larger game so, when the end came, I still had a lot of amo and first aid cans that was saving for a big confrontation with Nemesis. The good side of the game is that you will have more chances to be scared since the game is more dynamic. Graphics are, in my opinion, as good as RE2 (in my PC, though, RE2 looks even better than RE3). Since I liked both games, I can only say they are equally good. If you like the series you should deffinitely buy it, you will not regreat. If you do not have any of the 3 games and want the one with the best story, buy RE1 (but do not expect the best graphics). I hope that Capcom make the game also for Windows.

I LOVE THIS GAME!IT IS THE BEST OUT OF ALL THE RESIDENT EVILS.IT HAS NEW WEPONS AND NEW FREEZE ROUNDS FOR THE GRANADE LAUNCHER.NEW CONTROLS LIKE WHEN A ZOMBIE COMES REAL CLOSE TO YOU AND ITS ABOUT TO BITE YOU YOU CAN PUSH IT AWAY FROM YOU.AND WHEN A HUGE GROUP OF ZOMBIES COME NEAR YOU ,YOU CAN SHOOT A GAS TANK AND ALL THE ZOMBIES BY YOU WILL DIE!THIER IS ALSO ZOMBIES WITH DIFFRENT CLOTHES.THIS GAME IS THE BEST!

Resident Evil 3 (1999). Capcom's third installment of their famous survival horror series.

When Capcom unleashed the original Resident Evil on the PSX back in the spring of 1996, they had no idea that it would become one of their most successful franchises to date. In fact, the series is still going strong to this day with new games on the PS2 and Gamecube. So Capcom heeded the fans' calls for a sequel, and released RE2 a couple years later. This game ended up being much greater than the original and won over many more gamers with its intense action and edgy suspense. After RE2 received much success, it wouldn't be long before another sequel would be in the works. Come the fall of 1999, RE3 would make its appearance.

The first thing most gamers will notice is that RE3 isn't intended to be a full blown sequel, but rather more of a side mission designed specifically for veterans of the first two games who thought they were two easy and wanted something more challenging. Plus it would buy time for the next real sequel, RE: Code Veronica. It's quite clear that Capcom had this group of fans in mind when designing the third game. There are two difficulty settings, and although RE3 isn't intended for newbees of the series, the easy mode does give you plenty of ammo to survive most of the game without any problems. Hard mode, on the other hand, is VERY tough and it teaches you to conserve ammo and health items until they are absolutely needed. And even though it was always important to save the game in the past, it's STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you do it here, because it's that tough. The action is certainly more challenging, and it offers a plethora of small improvements over the other games.

The game's only real downfall comes from the fact that the story isn't anywhere near as compelling as the other games, as it just takes place in the same time frame as RE2. Well, specifically, the first half of the game starts a day before the events of RE2 and then the second half picks up several days after that game. Basically, the plot consists of Jill Valentine (star of the first game, and thankfully NOT played by the same voice actress!) trying to escape the streets of the T-Virus infested Raccoon City, all the while avoiding getting killed by the Nemesis (a crazed rocket wielding monster who's out to kill STARS members). There's nothing really surprising to the story, although Jill does encounter numerous mercenaries from Umbrella's evacuation fighting squad. Carlos is the only one Jill spends the most time with and he resembles sort of a love interest for her. Capcom doesn't really succeed as much with these two as say the relationship between Ada and Leon or the young girl Sherry's affection towards Claire, both in the previous game. Still, there are multiple paths and different endings to achieve, so plenty of replayability is here. Thankfully, any fallacy of the story is more than made up for by the gameplay.

If you're already a fan of the action from the first two RE games, then you'll love RE3 because there are a TON of additions to make the action segments more enjoyable. For instance, you can now dodge enemies attacks and utilize a quick turn so that running around is a lot easier to do. Plus, there are now interactive environmental items that you can fire at to cause damage to enemies. There's nothing more satisfying than being chased by a group of 8 zombies and then suddenly taking them all out by firing a single shot at an explosive. BANG! How cool is that? BTW, zombies can now run after you and chase you up stairs, so watch out! Another cool feature is the ability to create your own type of ammo by collecting and mixing different gunpowders. Even on hard mode, with the right combinations, you can end up with a LOT of heavy firepower.

As for the graphics, sound, and music, they are all nearly identical, so read my comments on them in my RE2 review to get the synopsis. Same with the music, although I will comment on the effectiveness of the music when the Nemesis arrives. It's quite scary when you leave the room that the Nemesis inhabits and then slow eerie music starts playing. You know that the Nemesis is nearby and will attack you at any time. This aspect was done very well.

There's only one playable character this time, but the game lasts at least 5-6 hours depending on how fast you go. Not to mention that items and monsters are randomly placed each time you play the game. RE3 does improve on the lack of challenging puzzles from the last game by featuring ones that have random outcomes each time. In fact, one puzzle toward the end of the game took nearly an hour to solve! The scare factor isn't quite as high as in RE2, but a new fear element is introduced and revolves almost entirely around the Nemesis when he's chasing you. The first time I played the game, I thought that killing the Nemesis was impossible, but now I know that even on hard mode you can still best him if you use your resources properly. After the game is done, there's still plenty of unlockable goodies to acquire, such as a timed battle mini game, different outfits, and numerous epilogues to explain the story further.

Overall, if you've mastered the first two games and hunger for more, then by all means pick up RE3. It's not perfect, but any older fan will find this game worthwhile. However, NEW FANS SHOULD START WITH THE OTHER GAMES FIRST BEFORE TACKLING ON THIS ONE, AS THEY MAY FIND RE3 TO BE FRUSTRATING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Resident Evil 3 brings back the excitement and horror of the previous two games, but is lacking something. There is nothing new about this sequel-- in fact, some features have been lost. The game is only one disc, and there is only one playable character (except for a short section). RE3 loses the replay value RE2 had because the story is the same every time through. The enemies appear in different places, though, and there is a neat reward bonus game which can affect the supplies the player has in the real game. Still, this doesn't provide the same amount of gameplay RE2 had.

Also, the "Nemesis" which tracks Jill through the story gets to be a real pain, leading to lots of running and shooting instead of story progression.

Finally, maybe I missed something, but the plot here is a big jump from the last game, in which Leon and Claire were searching for Chris, Jill, and other STARS members. Yet Jill was in the city the entire time?

Rent this game if you are a fan of the series or if it looks interesting to you. But it isn't as big of a step up as the last sequel was.

The game is really fun. Play the easy mode to get used to where all the bad guys jump out at you. If you struggle, buy a guide to help you understand why certain things happen. You will need to learn when to attack and when to just run by your opponent in order to conserve health or ammo.

The trick is to just survive your first game without worrying about your recorded time or grade. After you are finished, play Merecenaries and earn money. Use that money to purchase weapons with unlimited fire power. An assault rifle with infinite rounds $2,000. A rocket launcher that kills Nemesis in two shots $4,000. There is also a gattling gun that doesn't do much, but is fun to mess around with $3,000. If you are patient, you can purchase an unlimited weapons case for All your weapons for $9,999. All these infinite weapons can be used in your next game. The only drawback is that #3 doesn't have the reverse mode at the end like #2 does.

Hint: Use Frozen G shells rather then Fire or Acid. Nemesis is weaker to the Frozen ones.
