Resident Evil 6 - The Most Ambitious, Immersive Resident Evil To-date

Blending action and survival horror, Resident Evil 6 promises to be the dramatic horror experience of 2012. Resident Evil favorites Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield are joined by new characters, including Jake Muller, to face a new horror, the highly virulent C-virus, as the narrative moves between North America, the war-torn Eastern European state of Edonia and the Chinese city of Lanshiang. Joining this cast will be presidential aide Derek Simmons, who vows to track down Leon for his involvement in the President's death, and femme fatale Ada Wong. But what part will Ada play as the story unravels and does she have ties to the mysterious Neo-Umbrella?

With three distinct, yet interwoven story threads, each with their own pair of protagonists for either solo or co-op play, both offline and online, not only will Resident Evil 6 deliver both different perspectives and gameplay styles but, with the introduction of the innovative Crossover gameplay mechanic players will be able to team up and share the horror. At key moments during the game, up to four players can join together online to tackle a specific situation, with some stages seeing the usual partnerships swapped to further increase the depth of gameplay.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
i have played RE since 1 and i appreciate the efforts capcom made to improve the game. the game comes with 5 different stories and each had different gaming experiences. I personally loved the leon and ada mode the most. i recently played RE: veronica and i felt capcom did right to move things forward. re1, 2,3, veronica just play like the same. i think thats enough already. Now capcom did not just make a game based on same system but everytime it bring gamers something new

4.0 out of 5 stars It's different, but fun. November 23, 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I started playing RE when it first came out, so I have the same problem that a lot of people do when addressing the issue of the more recent games not being the "traditional" RE.

After RE4 came out, branching out in it's own direction, I didn't really follow when the new games were released. I would see them in the store and just decide to play them. The thing that caught my eye on RE6 Archives was that it included Code Veronica, which was my favorite. After downloading it, I tried to play it, but was extremely disappointed with the HD. I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be great, but after playing Silent Hill 2 and 3 in HD, I was really expecting more.

The game is broken into 3 campaigns, you can play them in order, or not, it won't be too hard to understand the story line. There's new characters, and they're really not that bad. The creators were able to develop the characters just enough so that by the time their campaign was done you aren't thinking, "Oh thank god, that's over with." That's a plus.

Each campaign has a different style to it. When you play Chris', you feel more in a FPS that the game turned to in RE4/5. Leon's really does well as it has a more horror/survival aspect to it, as if the game is starting to go back to how it was originally. The third, Jake's campaign is a lot of action, and you use more melee, similar in some ways to Chris'. Your partners do help, you're not going to be running into a situation like Ashley in RE4.

If you can accept that this is a different game than what the franchise originally started out as, then it's a super fun.

Also, if you're playing single player, and you aren't interested in playing with anyone else, be sure to turn the setting to allow agent hunt and live off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Remove the nostalgia glasses before playing. October 6, 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Edition:Archives
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Let me start by saying this: I've been with the series since the first game. Granted back then my brother and cousins used to scare me with it, I still played it straight on up until 6 now.

It's getting a lot of bad press, which is saddening. The series is not dying and the game itself is not bad. Sure, I wouldn't give it a 5/5 or a 10/10 but that's because it's not perfect to me either. I hate some of the storylines, especially one character and one ending. I hate how the split screen in Mercs is smaller than full screen (there's a huge gap space between the split screens and the sides). I don't like the new use of herbs. I loathe the L + R button combinations you have to make.

But I would recommend anyone who loves the series to give it a go. Don't listen to the professional reviewers at game magazines and websites. Form your own opinion.

Sure, the game isn't scary. There's a few jump moments when you first play through, but nothing that will give you nightmares. A lot of people complain the game is too actiony. I don't think so. There's suspense (not to be mixed with scares) and puzzles too. It has the feel of the old games with the mix of the new. Don't expect Resident Evil, or even RE2 and RE3. The games have been more action based since 4. It's nothing new for the series.

The menus take a lot of getting used to. And some weapons may be limited to some characters, but that isn't much of annoyance. Especially since melee is its own button, and yet not easy to abuse as you also have to focus on your stamina.

The costumes are a little cheesy, but when aren't they? The storyline is a little crazy, but when hasn't it been? All in all, I'd give it a solid 4/5 or 8/10.

I do love the game but the add ons you can't use unless you have Xbox live and all the crap that goes with it. It's not worth it. I made that mistake already but the stuff might be great one day if I can get Xbox live.

4.0 out of 5 stars No creepiness or story October 22, 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360| Edition:Archives|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I gave this 4 stars because it is a serious improvement over Raccoon City, but I think the negative aspects outweigh the good. The item menus are a mess, and you can't pause the game. These are game play issues and it seems like the developers don't use real-world testing on their games. I need to pause games, not to look up cheats or read the walk-throughs like some people, but because I have to pick up my kid at school. I also use a normal un-modded controller, and can't waste time scrolling through seventeen items for what I'm looking for. Herbs now have to be mixed and taken in pill form instead of the one button quick fix they used to be.

Aside from game play issues, I hate that it is now just a shooter and mutant bio-weapon freakshow. Bring back plain old zombies and in game challenges like mixing formulas and finding a save spot and a typewiter ribbon. I don't even think these developers ever played the original games. Even the familiar "Resident Evil...(#)" voiceover when you start the game is gone.

I've spent quite a few hours playing it in the various characters and as a time-killer its fine. As a franchise addition I don't see any value. The story is so forgettable I would have to read a synopsis in order to find one. When will game developers realize that classic formulas shouldn't be messed with and we don't all want CoD clones.

Any news of a Special edition?
I agree. USA gamers get screwed over when it comes to collectors editions, even though most of the games sell best in the USA. Europe gets an awesome collectors edition....What are the chances it will hit the US with only 3 months left?

pay more get less it's a great business model right? Usually any collector's/limited edition don't have the bonus's regular editions have.

NTSC or PAL
It would be the correct region I believe if he purchases it from the amazon affiliated with his region. You can also contact customer support.

If your thinking of buying this as a gift or something, it's going to be NTSC since this is the american amazon.
