Story

It is September 1998 and the action centers on the ill-fated Raccoon City. When the Umbrella Corporation learns that one of its top scientists, Dr. William Birkin, plans to sell the experimental G-Virus to the US Government they order an elite team of Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S.) soldiers led by Hunk into their secret research facility to secure the only known sample of the virus. The operation takes a turn for the worse when Dr. Birkin injects himself with the last vial, mutating into a deadly creature, G-Birkin and over powering the team. During the battle the deadly T-Virus is leaked into the sewers and spread through Raccoon City, infecting the entire population.

Hearing of the outbreak, the U.S.S. team is given fresh orders to destroy all evidence of Umbrella's involvement and silence anyone that might discover the truth. The Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.) are also deployed to help contain the situation. Product Description

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, a collaboration between Capcom and Vancouver based studio Slant 6 Games, is scheduled for release this Winter. This latest offering will take the series in a completely new direction and offer a style of gameplay yet to be seen from the franchise. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. The setting of the Resident Evil universe not only provides a rich backdrop to the action but delivers a unique and thrilling triple threat battle. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W's) add to the mix as players not only compete against their team's opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element that could only exist in the twisted Resident Evil universe, creating a brand new style of gameplay and breaking the conventions of traditional team based shooters. It is September 1998 and the action centers on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Meanwhile the US Government has quarantined the city and dispatched its own team of elite soldiers to determine the source of the mysterious outbreak. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Service soldier (U.S.S.), competing alone or in up to four player co-op in a battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed... March 26, 2012
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3| Edition:Standard|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
As others have noted this game does not play like either the early RE games or RE4 or RE5. This game has it's own "feel" to it, and at times reminded me a lot of SOCOM Confrontation or SOCOM 4, especially the features where you can revive your fallen teammates. However, the mechanics on this are not very good. For example, during the heat of battle when you need to revive your teammates you are more likely to "hit x" (on the PS3) and pick up some supplies rather than revive your teammate. This is especially problematic during the boss battles and instead of being able to revive your teammate you pick up a flash grenade that you didn't want anyway and then get killed while trying to revive a teammate. And the AI always seems to get themselves killed and never bother to pick up herbs or heal themselves even when the supplies are close by. There were a few missions that I just left them dead and finished it on my own. It isn't that the game play is difficult so much as it is bad mechanics that cause you to die and make the game more frustrating than fun. By the time I got to the 5th campaign I just didn't care anymore and shut the game off and am returning it.

The graphics are sub-par in my opinion for a PS3 game, which doesn't surprise me since Slant Six was involved with the production of this game more so than Capcom I'm sure. Also when I played with HUNK in the mercenaries game for RE4 he was bad-ace at melee and kills, but in the online play for this game he sucks and is easily defeated. Same with Vector. The game showed promise at times, I especially like the camoflogue for HUNK and Vector, and playing Versus online had its moments but ultimately left me feeling disappointed. And for a full retail of $60 the single campaign is surprisingly short. If Capcom wanted to do something like this to tie us over to RE6 it should have been a $30 retail price since this game offers online play and not much else. I'm hoping the RE6 installment in November will not disappoint.

FINAL GRADE: C

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall i give it a 7 out of 10. April 13, 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Campaign

The Campaign was good but it was also short, playing on professional mode didn't make it a bit longer. Took me about 2-3days to beat the game cause i was playing on professional an a countless number of times of dying on certain parts. If you plan on playing the campaign by yourself i will worn you that the AI for your team is retard. They're either getting in your line of fire or always dying, i'd recommend playing online but if your a boss like me and don't mind playing by yourself with the AI being as bad as it is then have at it.

Versus(Multiplayer)

Versus mode is pretty good but they could have done a little bit more to make it better. There are sum annoying features on versus such as character abilities. At the character select screen depending if you're USS or SPEC OPS its a race to get Vector/Lupo on the USS side and Dee-Ay/Willow on the Spec ops side. The reason behind this is because Vector on the USS side and Willow on the Spec Ops side have the ability to cloak them self(meaning there invisible) for about 45 seconds, while Lupo/Dee-Ay have the ability to be invincible to bullets for 30 seconds. There abilities and other characters as well have to recharge for a certain about of time when they run out which is a good thing. There are other characters abilities as well depending who you get and they are upgradeable with XP up to Level 3 being the max per ability for each character. I like using Tweed/Beltway(Demolition) cause they have the ability to plant mines and disable mines. As far as game modes go you can choose from Team Attack which is pretty much TDM, Biohard which is a objective base mode where you have to collect 5 G-virus sample before the other team does in order to win, Survivor which involves player to survive until a rescue helicopter comes and only 4 players can enter the helicopter once it lands so make sure you get to the helicopter once its land other wise your screwed, last but not least Heroes. In Heroes you get to select certain Heroes and Villians from Resident Evil 2 and 3. On the Hero side you can choose from Leon, Claire,Jill and Carlos where as on the villain side you can choose from Ada Wong, Hunk, Nicholai Ginovaef, and Lone Wolf. The way this game mode works is the first team to eliminate all heroes from the opposing team wins. Since your a hero your health doubled then what it normally is in other game modes so it take longer to kill each other.

Final Though

If you are looking to buy this game i would not recommend buying it at the full retail price of 59.99, I'd wait for like a good deal like 40.00 bucks or so but i do recommend this game to anyone who is interest in the game or simply loves Resident Evil. When this game was first announced back in beginning of 2011 i didn't think this game would be any good simply because Slant Six was making it and there track record with the god awful Socom Confrontation. After seeing actual gameplay around the time of E3 2011 i changed my whole opinion about this game and decided to give it a chance. When i finally got a chance to play it i was simply impressed of what Slant Six was able to come with. They could of came up with a little bit more but fail short on that. The graphix are pretty solid and sum what well polished were as the aim is good as long as you take of the auto aim/aim assist. I did find the L2(PS3) or LT(xbox360) to switch weapons kinda of annoying and it at time it wasn't very responsive with that being said overall i give this game a 7/10.

3.0 out of 5 stars Resident Evil needs help .......... March 27, 2012
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3| Edition:Standard|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
First of all am a huge fan of Resident evil series one of my best games ever since PS1 , and I really don't know what to say regarding operation Raccoon City if you are fan of resident evil you can't hate this game but you feel that there something wrong.
The good points of this game is:
1- The zombie are back finally and all original enemies such as the Hunters.
2- The bleeding and infection ideas are great but not well finalized.
3- The Melee attacks are nice and flexible but it is the same for all characters, in my opinion each character should have a special Melee attach and finishing move.
4- The variants of weapons are nice.

The Bad Points of this Game:
1- The game story is good but how they deliver it through this game is awful, the story mode is actual a mission base gameplay there is no story , you have to destroy some server then burn some papers .... Etc.
2- The new characters you start playing with them and you don't know who they are and what they do and how they come to the city.
3- The sound track of the game is annoying and not resident evil style at all.
4- The camera angle is bad , sometime you got stuck in the corner and you can't do anything you have to wait to die to reply the mission.
5- The enemies AI is bad they are dump, the movement of the enemies are bad too, they can't run or hide or shoot.
6- Your team mate are useless they can't help at all.
7- There is no Co-Op mode why I have 5 new characters and it is a team base gameplay.
8- When I saw the trailers of the game I thought that the graphics will be the best , but the cut scenes and movie clip in the game can be equal to Resident evil 2 cut scene.
9- The gameplay graphics are below normal and can't be compared with resident evil 5 at all.
10- The online game is OK but in my opinion resident evil power is in the story mode not the online gaming.

As you can see the bad points are more than the good ones , but I can't give the game less than 3 start because it is Resident Evil, and if the upcoming Resident evil (RE6) uses the same engine this mean CAPCOM is killing the game because in my opinion this game make CAPCOM a well-known company, we hope that Resident evil come back the way it was a Horror game with its original story and characters , not an action third person shooter only.
