Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Resident Evil: Outbreak tells the dramatic story of an outbreak caused by a secret biological weapon infecting the people of Raccoon City. Citizens are turning into flesh-eating zombies that swarm the streets. Wage war against the pharmaceutical giant, Umbrella, who is responsible for the events leading up to this disaster. In the shadow of this nightmare are a few desperate survivors. You take the role of these distraught few as they search for traces of life. You must find a way to get out of this city before the government quarantines the entire area by firing a missile and destroying all proof of existence. You must beat the clock or die trying. Resident Evil: Outbreak is the story of the survivors, fighting to endure this horrific ordeal.

Introducing an all-new story, an assortment of new characters, and a large number of non-player characters (NPC's). Scenarios are generated by the game with storylines branching off in new directions based on decisions made. You can enjoy each character's own storyline, as well as communicate with others. Play with up to four concurrent players on network mode or enjoy various scenarios with one-player in off-line mode.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real review, March 7, 2004

This review is from: Resident Evil: Outbreak (Video Game)
I read magazines, I see good reviews. I talk to people, i get good reviews. I talk to game store owners, I get good reviews. Then I log on to amazon, and i see "RESIDENT EVIL IS BAD, THE CONTROLS ARE LIKE USING REBECCA TO FIGHT NEMISIS. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I'M A BETA TESTER". 1) No you're not. 2) Rebecca doesn't fight Nemisis. 3) TURN OFF CAPS LOCK RETARD.

These graphics look tight, if you don't believe me go to residentevilfan.com, and see their movies. The controls are always the same, if you're a fan of their past games you should jump right in.

AND FOR THE LAST TIME!!! Stop reviewing games that aren't out! I see "final fantasy XII 5/5 just because it's final fantasy". Review it after you've played it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected fun online, March 9, 2004

This review is from: Resident Evil: Outbreak (Video Game)
I was really impressed with this title. I had the lucky chance to be able to play a beta version of the game, and from that alone I was impressed.
The dificulty level was refreshing, as most games lately are either too difficult or to easy. The elements involved keep you on your toes, but don't make for too much agrivation.

The new features to the RE universe are all welcome ones. Weapon improv as I like to think of it make alot of sense in the story line. What are the chances you'd come across a gun store or army surplus fully stocked? So I like making up spears and such on the fly. That with the character specialties is a nice touch to help balance out teams.

Order now so you be one of the first online when this launches soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars outbreak will be number ONE, October 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Resident Evil: Outbreak (Video Game)
This was the game we used to know as Resident Evil Online. Why the name change? Because it now also features a standalone mode (so people can play something without having to go online). We didn't see the single-player mode, though -- we saw the online game, with four people playing on four separate monitors. Following a super stylish intro, we witnessed a character select screen featuring a bunch of Hollywood look-alikes (the Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts look-alikes seemed almost lawsuit-worthy). Then it was on to the game, which, although early, left us dreaming of possibilities. It plays out in chapters: you'll enter into a certain situation and, with the help of human or computer teammates, be required to get through it. There are likely several different ways to complete a scenario, but all will likely require teamwork. It's pretty neat the way a group of players can work together. For example, there was a time when three players were fending off oncoming zombies while one went ahead and opened up a vent shaft for the group to escape through. Or there was another time where one person successfully landed a long jump and then went on to help the others make it across. It really looks like the building blocks are in place for something cool with Outbreak, and here's just hoping that Capcom can pull this one off. One sequence, in which the players were all running down a hallway with zombies chasing behind reminded me of a similar scene from the movie Aliens, where the characters were being chased down tunnels by the aliens. Just imagining the intensity of actually playing out such a scene had me incredibly excited.
