4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful book, June 2, 2010
By
I am building a large home and acting as my own general contractor. I bought this book to alert me to problems that could occur and to help me plan to prevent them. This book is designed as a list of problems grouped by topics. In the beginning I had some trouble understanding some of the potential problems, because the descriptions are brief and there is not too much background given. Over time, and as I have learned more about the construction process, I have been able to understand most of the issues. This book is great to alert you to conflicts you might never think about. I found it very useful although I would not call it easy reading, maybe because you need to focus on very detailed stuff to understand the issues. There are illustrations which greatly help in clarification. I think this book is worth getting if you are involved in planning a residential project. One mistake that it prevents you from making will easily pay for the cost of the book and save you headaches down the road.
