Although the book was missing chapter 14, I still found this book to be helpful. Especially with the video tutorials.

A product review should be just that, a product review; not slander about shipping or customer service. With that said; I bought the book because I needed to learn Revit and in a hurry. I was a little annoyed with the typographical errors, and there's a lot; however, the errors do not detract from the essence of the book. The companion DVD, which is supplied, is extremely intuitive. It contains chapter files which are clearly labeled for ease of reference. The DVD should be used in conjunction with the book; however, it is so easy to grasp the concepts (illustrations) on the DVD that, should you toss the book you could still survive. The book is easy to read and includes lots of visual outlines (screen shots) as well as tips. Within a few days I was able to design and prepare drawings without reference to the book ( on my own as a matter of speaking).I believe the book (with DVD) is extremely useful for beginners and can be used as a reference for intermediate. Having completed this book the next progression would be Mastering Revit Architecture 2010 - Greg Demchak (this by the way is not a beginner's guide). I did not rate the book 5* due to the number of typographical errors.

I purchased the book - came with Chapter 14 as an insert. Overall, the book was very basic - designed for a classroom environment with an instructor leading the chapters. First chapter was free-hand sketching of photographs, following chapters utilized basic text elements in the drwaings instead of using the smart features of Revit.I bought the book to learn Revit - found more resources elsewhere that were more helpful. Some may like this as a reference, but as an investment in learning resources, get a more complete book instead...

I ordered this book... twice. "Why" you ask? The first time was because I wanted to learn Revit and how to put it into practical applications- like pull a Construction Set off of it... but the whole Chapter 14 was missing. I returned it and got a replacement. The book is in shrink wrap... you can draw your own conclusions. Aw, forget it- I'll just tell you. The whole 14th chapter was missing again! Lame.
