5.0 out of 5 stars Great filters and nice case
The filters are great and the case is much smaller than I thought which makes it easy to fit into my camera bag.

Just FYI, if you've never put one on your camera (I hadn't), the filter is threaded. Just put the filter on your lens and rotate until it is snug.

It also allows for the Nikon lens cap to be applied.

I use the clear lens...

1.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive generic lens set, save your money
This is a very generic lens set, with the quality you would expect at this price. The polarizer is particularly bad-if you want decent images with a polarizer, you need to spend the money for a good one. The pink lens is supposed to correct colors under fluorescent light, something any modern DSLR can do in software. I bought this kit just to have as spares, and ended up...

I use the clear lens filter to protect the lens from dust, scratches, etc.

Great value and fairly heavy duty. It fits my 18-55mm lens just fin on my Nikon D60 camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Filters, Cheap Price, October 7, 2008

I bought these for my D40X. The fit perfectly onto the 18-55, and 55-200 lens. So far, I have been happy with getting them. They are of semi-decent quality, and definitely get the job done. The set comes with UV, FL, and Polarized Filter. The polarized filter does have a movable ring that allows you to adjust the intensity.

My shooting environment varies. I do outdoor shooting, indoor low light (in-laws REALLY need to invest into some brighter lights), and occasional long exposure night photography. Even with the filters on, I have never experienced any artifacting or negative impact to the photos.

If your like me, and pretty much just do amateur photography, and need a cheap set of simple filters to protect your lens and improve your pictures, you can't go wrong with these.

1.0 out of 5 stars Non-multi-coated = essentially useless, January 27, 2009
This review is from: 52mm High Resolution 3-piece Filter Set (UV, Fluorescent, Polarizer) - Black - for Nikon D40, D60 (Electronics)
You get what you pay for - these filters are really only useful to protect your lenses from scratches, but need to be removed while shooting to get decent shots.

The fact that they aren't multi-coated means that you get gross lens flares and ghosting whenever there is a light source anywhere near your subject. I tried taking photos in Boston at night, but they were almost all wrecked by greenish ghosts of the headlights and street lamps. Since then I've learned better and remove the filters whenever I want to take usable photos.

Also, the polarizer lens is pretty weak and doesn't seem to have much effect on reflections.

Save your money and spend a little more on multi-coated filters - you WILL be disappointed with these. I will be buying multi-coated filters to replace these very soon.

1.0 out of 5 stars A WARNING to any digital camera users!!!, August 5, 2009
This review is from: 52mm High Resolution 3-piece Filter Set (UV, Fluorescent, Polarizer) - Black - for Nikon D40, D60 (Electronics)
DO NOT get this if you plan to use the Polarizer filter on a digital camera.

You will notice in the description they don't mention what kind of filter this is. I learned after getting the package this is a LINEAR filter, not a CIRCULAR filter. I didn't understand the difference then (look it up on the web) LINEAR polarizers do NOT work for newer digital cameras. I have a Nikon D5000 and the auto-focus does not work correctly with this filter installed. I took photos over the weekend and thought they worked OK at first, but once I downloaded the photos to the computer discovered all were out of focus and trash.

I have now ordered a circular polarizer and it works fine - auto focus and meter works again.

Works just fine. Haven't compared to other polarizing filters, but the UV and FL provide beautiful results.

1.0 out of 5 stars absolute rubbish, July 19, 2009

This review is from: 52mm High Resolution 3-piece Filter Set (UV, Fluorescent, Polarizer) - Black - for Nikon D40, D60 (Electronics)
I am new to DSLRs but not to photography. (I am still an amateur though.)
I bought a new D60 at the start of my holiday along with these filters. Unfortunately, it took me a while to realize what rubbish these filters were. My first week's photos are unusable, due to bad color. The polarizer especially, seems to have some sort of pseudo-polarizing function, by enhancing certain colors, but not actually polarizing anything. I ended up with unnaturally colored photographs, still full of reflections!
Also, after fitting them to my 18-55 Nikon lens, the lens cap didn't fit perfectly enymore. It didn't "click" into place and tended to come off without warning!
I know they are not expensive, but rather use the $12.50 (after shipping) towards a decent set of filters. I bought my Hoya's yesterday and I'm not looking back.

it would be nice if this product included some hints or guides relative to appropriate applications. a photographer with advanced skills may have this knowledge but a novice would appreciate some guidance.

Works well. Pretty cheap. My only complaint is that the glass could be a bit more resistant to shock. Perhaps plastic rims instead of metal might help. I dropped the polarizer while taking it out of my pocket. Since it's slightly heavy, the glass chipped a lil bit on the edge inside the rim. It doesn't affect my snaps though.
