R.I.P Hidden In Plain View,
By William Frost "-Frost-" (I'm in the woods! somewhere in the USA!) - See all my reviews

I was really dissapointed to hear that Hidden In Plain View were calling it quits back in January.
But I was excited to hear that the last album would be coming out on July 24th 2007. Especially since that's my birthday. If you were always a fan of this band, this is definatly the CD of theres to own. It's a rock / emo masterpiece. My personal favorite track was #4 wich was "Heavy Breathing" and it includes other great songs such as "Bendy" but overall this album left me breathless and took me to a place I havent been in a long time, it's so amazing.

What a way to go out,

In their follow up to the timeless Life In Dreaming, Hidden In Plain View displays an aspect of their songwriting that reflects the dawning compression of an early maturity. Since Hidden In Plain View's inception seven years ago the band has pressed on through thick and thin. Resolution is what I can only describe as the fruit of their labor. It has been fun to watch their evolution throughout the years, but unfortunately Resolution will be the final chapter in this tale seeing as Hidden In Plain View disbanded earlier this year citing professional and creative differences. Regardless, Resolution comes off more like a final farewell than a final attempt to gather cash. In many cases, the album sounds more like it was recorded after the break-up, not the other way around. The album shines with psychologically revealing songs like "Bendy" and "Hear me Out". The opening track "Bendy" does an excellent job of setting the mood for Resolution. It more or less chronicles the band's journey and serves as a big `thank you' to all of their fans. It recaptures vocalist Joe Reo's trip back to the past when he was the "boy in the front row singing his heart out". After the band's breakup, the lyrics "it's a long way back home from here" seem to make so much more sense. The lyrics alone are very personal which creates a very intimate connection between the band and their fans. "Hear me out", the final cut on the album, is a delicate but ultimately uplifting track that sums up the album with watery eyes. Resolution is solid - I mean really solid - it rocks from start to finish. Resolution is raw, melodic and full of feeling. The album refuses to tire or wane through a series of catchy choruses and powerful energy. The down point of the album is the realization that it is their last. It is far and away their best release to date. -reviewed by Christopher Salyer

Resolution gives fans just that,

I've been waiting 2 years for a follow up to their first full length
Life in Dreaming and "Resolution" does not disappoint one bit. The minute you pop the cd in and "Bendy" comes over the speakers, you're in. The strong beats and catchy hooks will leave you singing the song all day long. It's that good. The rest of the cd is strong and shows a mature growth in the band in the past 2 years. This cd is both lyrically and musically stronger than "Life in Dreaming". It's a shame that I will never get to see them perform any of this material live since they broke up in January. Perhaps that's why they named the cd "Resolution", to give fans some closer. I think they succeeded.

This is a good CD, like other people say I feel that if you don't know this band, this is a good CD to get to know them with. Although I don't like the album artwork that much... Aside from that it's great!

i can count on one hand the albums i have enjoyed the entire way through, where its not necessary to skip songs that don't do it for me. well add another...
I'm guessing anyone who likes Boys Like Girls, the second All-American Rejects album, and Jimmy Eat World's faster songs, will love this. both singers sound very similar to the shrilly Boys Like Girls dude. high energy power pop, utterly pleasant. drummer is excellent, lots of great double bass stuff really drives the songs. too bad they broke up apparently? personal favorites: Bendy Walk Harbor City Circles Off My Shoulders The Lake House

Resolution is the very impressive, mature, second full-length album from Hidden In Plain View. I was a big fan of their first album, Life in Dreaming, and I am an even bigger fan of this one. They took their strengths and used them very well, creating a very grown-up version of themselves. I was honestly impressed and am very sad to hear that HIPV has broken up. A definite buy if you liked the first CD!

As of this year I have been nothing but disappointed by releases of my favourite bands.. until I heard HIPV's new cd.
They slightly evolve their sound from Life in Dreaming.. its more refined, more silky .. its not as raw and in your face. Joe's voice is so beutiful in some of the songs here .. it's a goddamn shame we won't see this great band evolve even more. But a sweet and smooth ride it is, and I'm loving every minute of it. If you loved LiD .. you'll love this, or at least like it. Stand out songs (after 2 hours of listening..) : Walk Harbour City Off my shoulders Something needs to change
