Don't Waste your Money,
By Vendela (Cincinnati, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Resonans 4/4 Violin Shoulder Rest: Low Profile
This is one of the worst violin shoulder rests ever. My students who come in with this shoulder rest hate it. It always falls off the violin and we spend half the lesson picking it up off the floor. Sure it's cheap, but you will either hate your practice time and put up with it, or you will immediately purchase a more expensive and higher quality shoulder rest. Save yourself the step and buy a Kun, Wolf, or Bon Musica shoulder rest instead. It's best to try it in a store so you can see how it feels with your unique body shape and then shop around online for the best price.

Being petite, the low profile shoulder rest makes long practices much
more comfortable and less tiring by it holding my violin in the proper position.

Works OK providing...,

Used these for the past 37yrs! Never thought to buy anything different! They work OK if you position them in the correct place, bend the legs to suit you and the violin and use carefully so as to not scratch your violin with the ends. When the rubber perishes (takes MANY yrs) you can replace it cheaply with insulation or medical tape. They are inexpensive, simple, don't break, last forever, have worked fine for my students (who may not carry on with violin) and do work OK if you use them properly but maybe there are much better and dearer ones available?!!

Get your needle nose pliers out,

This review is from: Resonans 4/4 Violin Shoulder Rest: Low Profile
I'm a novice violin player and I bought this rest because it was cheap. The moment I tried to put it on my 4/4 violin, it fell off. It was about 2 centimeters too wide. I took my needle nose pliers and did a little (and I mean very little) bending of the metal. Now it fits perfectly and comfortably. If I didn't have to custom bend this thing to my violin, I would have given it a higher rating.

I agree with the other negative review. I bought this because of the low price but as it has been said you get what you pay for. The shoulder rest doesn't stay on! It also scratched up the sides of my violin where the legs hold it on. I do not recommend this one. I will be ordering a better one soon, as I only used this twice and it has been in the closet ever since!

Try and Avoid.,

I had one of these for a few months. What a terrible few months. It scratched my violin repeatedly, no matter how carefully I put it on. My teacher said that she had that shoulder rest for her first violin and thought it was terrible. It was. It's not even comfortable! I always struggled to hold my violin properly with this rest. Then I bought and Everest (Kun copy) and I loved it! Much more comfortable, much easier to hold my violin properly, and doesn't scratch the instrument! It's cheap too, $15. If you are willing to pay more for higher quality though, get a Kun.Hope I helped (:

A great product; one of my favorites. Finally, one that stays on the violin, does not slip off for beginners, especially. Comfortable as well. :)
My student was absolutely thrilled. I will need one of these for myself as well. Thank you!

Inexpensive rest,

I've had this rest for 15 years, though haven't always played my instrument. I'm playing daily again.
Yes, eventually the rubber becomes soft/loose and it may scratch your instrument, but that is what happens to rubber. It's 1/4-1/8th the cost of others. Can bend it with your hand if it doesn't fit your instrument, and can be customized if you are changing instruments. I like it because it is taller than some other rests (Kun).

Harms the Instrument,
By Meow666 (Miami) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Resonans 4/4 Violin Shoulder Rest: Low Profile
I used this shoulder rest in the past with my old instrument. A major problem with it is that the rubber on the grips wears off, exposing the metal that holds the shoulder rest to the violin. This has the potential to harm the instrument by scratching it. My old violin suffered some scratches as a result. This should rest is also uncomfortable for me.

When I was a kid I had a shoulder rest that looked like this one and it scratched the violin. Do not get this shoulder rest.
