5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and addicting, May 1, 2008

This album is one of Eric Himan's finest. I started with one song from his website and then just couldn't get enough. He is an amazing talent and his music is a rare gem. Eric Himan's voice is strong, intriguing and very well trained and so is his masterful playing of the guitar.

This cd is a must and I highly recommend it.

I've heard a lot about Eric Himan, but haven't listened to his music until now. Resonate is a CD that quickly grows on you and, after about two listens, becomes stuck in your mind in a great way. I listen to it over and over and don't get tired of hearing it. Great production too!

I don't remember how I first learned about Eric Himan, but I am glad that I did. He is very talented and Resonate is a wonderful album. It is one of the few albums I have purchased where I can happily listen to every song. I eagerly await his next release and I will be checking out his touring schedule.

Buy this album.

Eric makes a CD. I buy it. See? Simple. When you find an artist that is truly talented, dedicated to his music and his fans, and willing to put himself heart and soul into his efforts, what isn't to like?

If he comes to your town, go see him. I guarantee you, one live show and you will be hooked like the rest of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Resonating, May 1, 2008
This review is from: Resonate (Audio CD)
From the first time I heard Eric Himan, I knew there was something special about him. He doesn't play to stereotypes or fit into specific genres - an acoustic musician in an age of techno-beats and lip-synched celebrities. He's a soul-singer from the sixties combined with a folk-singer from the seventies, his feet planted squarely in the 21st century. But here on "Resonate", which sounds more like a sequel to 2005's "Dark Horse" then 2006's "Everywhere All At Once", Eric is a blunt-force rocker who tells it like it is. That doesn't mean there aren't tender moments. In fact the opening song "Wish You Would" is about as tender a goodbye to passed love as anyone has written since Annie Lennox asked "Why?" And "He's Using You" is a classic R&B soul-searcher that could have been right at home on a Nina Simone or Otis Redding album. But songs like "Little Boy Blue", "For Me", and "In Demand" give this album a harder and tougher edge than anything Eric has done in the past. With that added edge, comes a certain sense of confidence and maturity. "Resonate" has a more centered vibe than any of his previous work, indicative of an artist who is coming into his own - or is that a boy becoming a man? You can feel the music mussels flexing - as if to say "Watch out world - Eric Himan is all grown up!"

This album is filled with great guitar riffs, beautiful melodies, bold lyrics, and charged vocals. With every album, Eric breaks new ground, and "Resonate" is another big step forward for one of our generation's musical greats.
