Covering the entire field of HRD - from orientation and skills training to career development and organizational development - this comprehensive resource provides a clear understanding of the concepts, processes and practices that form the basis of success. Reflecting the current state of the field, it blends real-world practice with up-to-date research and includes the latest developments on such key topics as new training media, ways to measure the effectiveness of orientation programs, safety training, coaching and the performance management process, the effectiveness of employee counseling and work site health promotion programs, team-based interventions, adult learning theory, shifts in career development, the use of ROI and utility estimates for communicating HRD effectiveness and much more.

This textbook has some good information, but it is wordy and redundant in spots. Some topics have more detail than what is needed in the real world. Chapters are too long. Make these edits, enlarge the print, and the textbook would be a better product.

It's a textbook so it not surprising that it doesn't just absorb your attention... but it does supply important information with reasonable detail. I like that it gives charts and list to help with explanations.
