Product Description

Editorial Review

Winner of the Parents' Choice Foundation Award and the Toy Testers Name Crème de la Crème, the Take Off! Board Game is a fantastic way for kids and adults to learn geography while having tons of fun. The goal is to get your fleet of planes (2 to 4 in all) across the map of the world--from Hawaii to Hawaii--before your opponents, by rolling dice, getting lucky, and answering questions about the nations of the world correctly from the deck of country profile cards. The game is fast-paced and entertaining for all ages, and its two levels--basic and "challenge"--mean that players can tackle the tougher questions once they've mastered the simpler ones. --Rob Lightner

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic fun!, September 9, 2007

It isn't often that a board game can appeal to all ages in a family. But this one does. I bought it for my eight year old boy. But my two college aged kids don't mind playing this game with him.
I disagree with the previous reviewer because I thought it was very well made. It has a laminated plastic board that has weathered many, many games and still looks as beautiful as when we opened the box. The little airplanes are just the right size that they don't get left on the carpet when we clean up the game afterward. And the cards are easy to read with tons of information about each country.
We have ALL learned so much because of this game. And I know that my son can now find any country in the world. He can even tell you which hemisphere it's in! How many other kids can say that? Geography is a subject that gets discussed less and less in public school. So I say, bring on the games! Let's learn about this big old world we live in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take off game is addictively fun!, January 12, 2009

My son initially played this game at an elderly friends home. It is a laminated map of the world with the flight lines on it in different colors. The colors indicate which route you may take depending on the colors on the dice thrown. There are "take off" cards which indicate where you need to fly to before making it all the way across the world. Sometimes you get half way across and then draw a card that makes you go backwards. It is a fun way to learn which countries are in which continents and their capitols along with the oceans and seas. It is hard to stop playing as you want to make it to the other side!

5.0 out of 5 stars TakeOff is Great!, January 11, 2009
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Take Off! Game (Toy)
My children played with TakeOff during their home-schooling days, over a decade ago. When my sister indicated a desire to homeschool her toddler, I immediately bought TakeOff for my sister to begin learning her geography and "world civics" now in order to be ready to teach her daughter in a few years.

TakeOff is challenging and fun, and did a great job of holding my children's interest for hours at a time, and for many years as they grew and learned. The company does a great job of regularly updating world information and keeping on top of all the changes we experience on our planet. I recommend it to anyone who is home-schooling, or who just enjoy a good educational game!
