5.0 out of 5 stars Dare to be different
The Respect Dare is just that, a dare to respect your husband--no matter what the outcome. The 40-day challenge begins with a gentle nudge for wives to consider the ways in which they can grow, while focusing on a Scripture verse and a bottom line truth from real women's journeys. You'll find yourself identifying with the "Daughter's" stories. The stories are real. I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Kindle Edition Incomplete and Poor Formatting
I love the concept, the advice, the book in general. However...this kindle edition is incomplete. The reading portion is there for each day, but then the exercises and dares aren't complete...it just cuts off the text if the box containing the text is longer than the screen (with no way to navigate down). Also, some of the exercises/dares look like a double exposed...

5.0 out of 5 stars Dare to be different, July 21, 2009
This review is from: The Respect Dare (Hardcover)
The Respect Dare is just that, a dare to respect your husband--no matter what the outcome. The 40-day challenge begins with a gentle nudge for wives to consider the ways in which they can grow, while focusing on a Scripture verse and a bottom line truth from real women's journeys. You'll find yourself identifying with the "Daughter's" stories. The stories are real. I lived part of them and watched many of them unfold through a Daughters of Sarah course. The questions for each day's dare will require no more than 20 minutes and the impact of answering them is lasting. The dares required each day are simple--not necessarily easy--but simple. The Respect Dare is not for the stagnant woman unwilling to grow or learn or change. The Respect Dare is not intended to create doormat wives, either. It's for the dynamic woman who, flawed as she may be, wants to love and be loved and is willing to do whatever it takes to become that woman, even respecting a less-than-perfect husband. It's written for each wife--no matter where she is in her spiritual journey and marriage--to sharpen her marital tools in her toolbox and to deepen her spiritual journey. Consider The Respect Dare as a companion on your journey along a little known, but breathtaking path: a marriage steeped in honor and respect. I double-dog dare you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended book!, September 26, 2009

This review is from: The Respect Dare (Hardcover)
Awesome book! The Respect Dare contains a marvelous program for wives who want to learn what it means to respect their husbands and to put their knowledge into action. The program works because it encourages wives to move knowledge from their heads to their hearts and behavior. The program is of benefit regardless of where you are in your marriage (newlywed versus married a long time; happily married versus struggling, etc.).

In addition to the book, an inexpensive on-line e-course is also available. This course allows small groups of women to work the exercises in the book together and receive feedback and encouragement each week from the author, who is a gifted mentor. This is a young ministry. As the ministry grows, it probably won't be feasible for the author to continue to provide this kind of one-on-one feedback. I encourage all wives who buy the book to take advantage of this marvelous on-line opportunity, too! I say that because I've received significant benefit from the book and on-line program. I recommend both without reservation.

This review is from: The Respect Dare (Hardcover)
The Respect Dare is a book of devotional exercises to help a woman "practice" the art of showing her husband respect. The exercises have application not only for wives towards husbands, but even in friendships or with our children. Showing respect is not always a natural activity for most of us and this book will help one understand better the ways you relate to your husband and others. Not only that, you will reap the benefits of treating others in a way that makes them feel valued. If you are person desiring personal growth, this is a book for you. Thanks for this valuable resource!

5.0 out of 5 stars Double Dog Dare You, April 23, 2010
This review is from: The Respect Dare (Hardcover)
The Respect Dare is not, repeat not, for women looking for a marriage that is happy according to standards of modern day society.

The Respect Dare is for wives looking for a marriage that is happy according to the standards established by God.

The foundational premise for The Respect Dare is found in Ephesians 5:33b, wherein wives are instructed to reverence or respect their husbands. The assumption (correctly) is that once a wife has accepted her responsibility to respect her husband, she may likely not have a clue as to how it is done. The Respect Dare will teach Christian women how to communicate respect to their husbands and model it for their children and others. Step by step, day by day, The Respect Dare provides lessons that are short and simple and very doable. Each "dare" promotes growth and builds on a foundation for a happy marriage.

I highly recommend this book for any woman daring enough to do something more than satisfy society's standard of a happy marriage.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Respect Dare - An Awesome Read!, June 21, 2009
This review is from: The Respect Dare (Hardcover)
The Respect Dare is an awesome read that everyone in a marriage or relationship can benefit from. The "real" stories make the reader feel like they are right there and everyone can relate to them. The Biblical references add depth to take this novel to the highest level - expanding on your own relationship with God. Whether you are in a happy relationship or a struggling one, you can benefit from the tools the author enlists us with. The benefits the book gives pays back for the little investment in the book a 100 to 1. Enjoy and praise the Lord for giving us authors such us this one!

I'm only on day 14 of the Respect Dare but I've already seen incredible results in my attitude, heart and in my marriage. It's really encouraging to see God's faithfulness in renewing my heart and marriage so quickly now that I'm allowing Him to lead. Our husband's really need our respect, it's key for a man to feel respected, especially by his wife. So grateful for Nina's insight and the "Daughter's Stories" are so inspirational. Highly recommend this book for any wife, newlyweds or veteran wives!

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical application for a Biblical command, March 16, 2010

The biblical command, "...wives respect your husbands..." is such a necessary aspect of a healthy marriage. Unfortunately, I had NO IDEA how to put it into practice.
This book is a blessing. It contains 40 days of practical ways I can show respect to my husband. I have noticed such a difference in my marriage. My husband is happier, less stressed, and is able to hear God in the absence of all my 'noise'. It's not that I've lost my voice, it's that I am learning to speak 'man' and helps my husband hear me more.
I would recommend this book to any married woman, but especially to newly married women. Getting these concepts integrated into your marriage early will save you a world of hurt.
For Valentine's Day this year, instead of getting my husband something he didn't need or care about, I told him that I was going to work on learning to show him respect. As a result of my obedience to God, my husband has begun daily devotionals on his own, he has started reading the Love Dare (to do for me!), and I can tell just by his advice that he is listening to God and praying more.
Wives, if you are frustrated with your husband's lack of connectivity to you, I DARE YOU to start this book. You won't be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars a must read, November 17, 2009
This review is from: The Respect Dare (Hardcover)
A must read for EVERY married woman, and any women who wants to be married some day.

I love how Nina made the chapters short and sweet. EVERYONE has time to do a chapter. It can take as little as 3 minutes if you don't want to journal with it. However I will say that keeping track of your progress (aka journaling) is a great opportunity to visual track your progress!
I think regardless of where you are in your Christian walk, there is always room for improvement in your marriage and you'll be surprised at just what God is asking of you as you seek His will in your marital relationship!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have!, April 12, 2011
I have never felt so strongly about wives reading a book that is practical, real, and humbling! It seems so natural for us to nag, control, and blame, but Nina puts it in easy terms for us....Respect your man! It may be the best thing you can do to get your relationship singing again! I plan to give this book to many more friends because we need to repair this divorce epidemic and restore marriages!
