Worth every penny and more!,
This review is from: Respisense BUZZ Infant Breathing Movement Baby Monitor (Baby Product)
We love this sensor! It gives such peace of mind with a new baby in the house. When our daughter was a newborn we used it around the clock, but now at 10 wks old, we only use it at night. She has wiggled until it came off her diaper a few times and I can assure you that the alarm gets very very loud. I can't believe that we didn't have something like this for our three other kids. Handling a new baby is much easier when you can actually sleep without freaking out (like I always did) and jumping up to check the baby constantly. I cannot go to bed without the Respisense on the baby. I couldn't find it one evening and ransacked our living room in desperation. My husband thought we had been robbed when he arrived home the next morning. The perfect product for worried parents!

Great monitor, but false advertising,

This monitor was wonderful with my son. I was a paranoid first time mom & it gave me such peace of mind. Occasionally, we had false alarms (which will make your heart stop). But I was still able to sleep at night knowing my baby was safe. We used it everytime he slept. The reason I gave it 3 stars is the customer service. This product boasts that you can obtain a new battery for a small fee - either when it dies or to use with another child later on. This is not the case. I was recently told that my model was too old (2007 model) so I couldnt obtain a battery. I would have to send my unit in & trade it in for an upgraded model for $80! The customer service alone turned me off. I will use it for my second child & hope the battery doesnt die. Luckily, it has a warning alarm, so I have time to get another product. If you only need this for one child or dont mind investing in a new one everytime you have a child, then this is a great product for you.

I bought two of these, one for each twin, after doing research on movement sensors. Here's what I think about it after about a month of use.:::Pros::: Can use it anywhere It works Buzzer doesn't wake baby, just a gentle nudge to breathe Compact size Easy to wipe off :::Cons::: Directions are mostly pictoral, not written Alarm after 20sec isn't as loud as I would like Clip isn't spring loaded so it can be knocked off Any movement of the sensor registers as breathing (i.e. rocking the baby) You'll still need a traditional baby monitor to hear the alarm if the baby is in another room Expensive At first glance, it looks like there's more bad things about this monitor than good. The positives are so good that they outweigh the negatives for us. Unlike other movement monitors that require a flat surface under a mattress, this "baby beeper" works ANYWHERE. It's ideal if you have twins sharing a crib or have a family bed since the other movement monitors won't work then. It's also great if your baby sleeps in different locations (daycare/home, upstairs/downstairs, carseat, etc.). We've had a few false alarms when it fell off, and a couple of real alarms so I feel confident that it works. It tooks us a little while to realize that you need to fold the top of the diaper over and then slide the monitor on. It's also important that any movement to the monitor registers as baby movement. We've knocked the monitor off while rocking the baby and it didn't go off until after we put the baby down to sleep. The "tummy tickle" buzzer goes off after 15sec of no movement. It's nearly identical to a pager/beeper/phone vibration. It's never woken either of our boys up, but it does slightly startle them into moving (and I assume breathing). The buzz did wake me up, though, when the boys were sleeping in the same room as me. If another 5sec goes by with still no movement, the alarm goes off. I know another reviewer said the alarm was really loud, but that hasn't been my experience. The first time it went off, I thought it was my baby's nose whistling. It's a semi-soft, really high pitched beep. It's NOT the beep you hear when you first turn it on. I would recommend that you test out the alarm ahead of time just so you know what sounds like. The alarm has never woken either baby. This movement sensor is made in South Africa, so the directions are universal pictoral. I can understand doing that so you can sell them anywhere, but I had a tough time figuring out what they were trying to tell me. The bottom line is you press and hold the on button to turn it on. It'll go through a start-up sequence where all of the lights blink, it buzzes, then beeps. At that point you'll want to attach it to your baby's diaper. Once it's on your baby, it senses whether your baby is awake (yellow light with 3 dots near it) or asleep (green light with red circles around it). Which ever light applies will blink. For us, we can see the light blink through both their sleeper and sleep sack when they're in a dark room. If at any point the sensor has to buzz your baby, the yellow/green light will stop blinking and the red light (with a ! near it) will start blinking. That way you'll know if it detected non-movement at anytime during the night. To reset it, just turn it off then back on. All in all, I would buy this monitor again. The price wasn't too different from other movement monitors and it gives me the peace of mind that the boys are doing well. I would also recommend this monitor to a friend.

I got this product because my brand new baby kept waking up gasping for breath (I later found out she had reflux)which would send me into a panic. After looking at other items that would go under her mattress I felt most comfortable with this because it was directly on her tummy and could go where she went i.e. car seat and swing. I have to say I love it and know for a fact that it works because twice it has gone off and I have woken up to find her not breathing. After giving her a little shake she took a breath and was ok. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that to get a battery replacement (they say the battery lasts about a year)you have to send it to the manufacturer. After researching it more it makes sense because they replace the battery and replace the face cover therefor ensuring the warrenty stays valid. They also offer a rental program so that you aren't without the pager. Overall I think it is a great product.

As a first time Mother, had I severe PPA (postpartum anxiety) and was completely unable to sleep when my daughter was sleeping. The first three weeks, before I got this product, I wouldn't sleep unless someone was awake and watching her sleep (yes, I was a little hormonally crazy). After receiving this device, I was able to sleep again. It was a life-saver for me. We had a few false alarms when it would become dislodged from her diaper, but they were easily heard over the room monitor. I would rather have a false alarm then no alarm when I needed it. The device even earned my daughter a nickname with her Granny...Twinkle...because of the flashing green light that could even be seen through her swaddle. :)We have an older model of this device, one without a changeable battery, so we will probably need to replace it if we have another child. I'd pay the same price for a new one every time, if needed. Luckily for current first-time purchasers, you can get a version with a changeable battery (so check your model to be sure).

I was so thrilled when this monitor arrived, and I LOVED it for several weeks. Finally, I could sleep comfortably, knowing the alarm would wake me if my baby was having any trouble breathing. She doesn't have any health issues, but I thought this was a great protector against SIDS (and I still do think that). I love the blinking lights so that if you do go to check your baby in the dark, you can see the light blinking as she breathes without turning on the nursery lights and waking her. However, you may have read other reviews that the monitor seems "inexpensively" constructed. Well, I didn't think much of that as long as it does its job, until the clip broke! Just a few weeks into owning it, I pulled her out of her crib to see the clip had cracked. The next time I tried to put it on, it cracked all the way through and wouldn't clip onto the diaper anymore. Really, $130 and the clip can't be better constructed? It must have been weak already and she rolled onto it and broke it. To make matters worse, when I contacted them to get it replaced (used per directions, and one would think this would be a fault in workmanship of the product) they said that a broken clip wasn't covered. So, $130 for a few weeks of use seems pretty poor performance to me. I'm looking at the Snuza instead as a replacement.

This has provided complete comfort to us. It is perfectly reliable. Sadly, we purchased ours before they made the replaceable battery. I will definitely use this for the next baby even if there is a large fee to replace it with a newer model.

I purchased this monitor for my daughter to use when our grandson came home from NICU. She has used it less than a month and it has stopped working. She will be contacting Healthcheck Systems, but has not done so yet (the monitor just stopped working within the past few days); so I cannot comment on their refund policy. Even if the monitor is replaced, I don't think there will be the peace of mind I had hoped I was giving her.

So I think this is a really great product. It really does help you sleep, but it is hard to simply rely on anything but yourself to make sure your precious little one is okay. The great thing about the product is that it has several different lights on it that indicates when your baby is moving and at rest, also it tells you when the battery needs to be replaced. It is also nice that it vibrates to try and wake the baby up, even though our baby still sleeps through it. The other thing that is good about it is that it is portable, whether you baby is sleeping in their crib or they fell asleep playing on the floor or you go to visit a relative...you can use it, that's definately great!! and if you have a baby that moves about everywhere in their crib whereas if you have one of the movement sensors that go under the mattress they are only good if the baby stays right on them. The bad thing about it is it is kinda bulky so if your baby rolls over on their tummy it seems like that would be very uncomfortable and the hard plastic leaves a mark on the skin when you take it off..you have to make sure the diaper is on tight enough so that there is good contact on the skin so it can detect the breathing motion. I wish the plastic clip part could be replaced with something padded. Also there have been a lot of false alarms...sometimes it fell off the diaper from her moving around, or the diaper wasn't tight enough, but other times we didnt know why it went off because we would watch her on the monitor still awake and it would go off..also sometimes I would go to get her and the respisense would have fallen off of her and it didn't go off, the only thing I can think of with that is that it was still detecting her movement from her laying on it. Also, I like that the alarm gradually gets louder but I think it should be louder than what it ends up at and the vibration shoud be stronger. Overall I would buy it again if I had a chance to choose again

What a great item for peace of mind!!! My daughter has tracheamalasia and gasps in her sleep, so none of us were getting much rest. When used correctly I have had no false alarms and can, glance over and see the blinking light thru her pajamas. I looove this item!!
