This two CD set, RESPOND, is a fantastic 27 song compilation by female Boston singers. It was put together as a benefit album for RESPOND Inc., a Somerville, Massachusetts-based domestic violence program that serves women and children. It is a wonderful collection and I particularly enjoy the contributions of Lori McKenna and Catie Curtis. Give it a listen - great music for a great cause and remember, Mother's Day is coming up!

This is an album that gets better with every listen. The singers and songwriters that have come together for this project pulled out all the stops. The performances are gripping, and the songs themselves are top notch - ranging from breathtakingly beautiful, to bluesy and soulful, to down-and-out rockin.

Lately I've been especially enjoying the second disc, and there are more than enough jewels and treasures waiting to be discovered here to keep this CD set spinning on your player for a good long time. You know you can't lose when helping a great cause ends up being so much fun.

I am not normally a fan of women folk singers but this CD is absolutely one of the best CDs I have listened to. There's not a single song on it that I don't like. And even better- it supports such a wonderful cause. In this day and age of violent lyrics and harsh music this CD is a refreshing change- you have to buy it!

An amazing compilation of national and boston area female singers, whose proceeds benefit Boston center that provides help to battered women. Album includes hauntingly beautiful cut by Merrie Amsterburg "World of Our Own Making," Melissa Ferrick performing an amazing accoustic version of her "Everything I Need," as well as contributions by rising stars in Boston's flourishing music scene. A great variety of songs that rock and incredibly beautiful ballads. A must-buy CD!

This collection is funny, transporting and instructive, and deserves the widest possible exposure. "Any Kind of Love" deserves to be a hit or a featured track in a film, because it really hits home about modern relationships. This album took more courage to assemble than most records released these days because each contributor had look deeply inside for such honest music. Buy two, and mail one copy to Limp Bizkit, a sadly insecure crew who have much to learn about real guts and real love.

This CD has something for everyone. The mix of voices, styles, and content is incredible for a complilation. Besides being a pleasure to listen to, this CD benefits an important cause. Hopefully the CD will gain more attention and in conjuntion, will raise awareness of the ever-present need to support women that are victims to violence. Kudos to the women that organized to produce a wonderful CD!

I don't know of any other album that offers the best in women's folk all on one CD. Every song (and every songstress) is wonderful, and that's pretty hard to find. Along with the brand-name talent and artists from the Lilith Fair are some awesome up-and-comers; pay attention to them though, because they'll be next on the national scene. You don't have to be a "folkie" to love these songs. And there's the added benefit that the proceeds benefit a great organization, and at the same time it's raising awareness about domestic violence. I ended up buying a bunch of these to give as Christmas presents, and everyone loves it. Pretty cool!

This CD set is not only a great compilation of artists for a worthy cause, it is also the kind of music that you will find yourself humming, and maybe even singing, along with as well. These CDs make long car rides fly by... The variety of artists made this a great present for friends whose tastes are difficult to define.

This is a superb compilation of the emotionally powerful singer songwriter material coming out of Boston. The music lingers. The lyrics reveal more with each repeated listen. One listen to this set barely cracks the surface of the richness contained in these tracks.

This two disc set is a great compilation of outstanding female talent. Not only will you get fantastic music, you'll also be supporting a great cause. Don't pass this one up!
