Book Description

Remember when serious browsing of the internet on anything other than a desktop or laptop would be laughable? Well, those days are long gong now. The great advancements made with smartphones, and the introduction of tablet devices, have made it now so that there is no assurance of what way any website will be viewed.

So the need of ensuring websites appear as close to pixel perfect in every browser, has now become a need to ensure every device gets a quality experience. What is there for a web designer and /or developer to do?

Converting Websites To Responsive Sites is an introduction into Responsive Web Design, best suited for those just beginning learning it. Responsive Web Design is the hottest, and most useful practice of the moment. Responsive Web Design cuts the development time down tremendously when trying to target different viewing devices, and better prepares your website for the future.

This eBook covers all you’ll need to know to get started turning your older websites into Responsive Websites, while providing a solid process for creating Responsive Websites. Starting out with a brief introduction into Responsive Web Design, and ending with great advice on how a quality responsive experience should be, it is a knowledge packed read throughout.

3.0 out of 5 stars no meat here August 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you've done any research about responsive design then you already know what's in this pamphlet. I was looking for step by step instructions about how to approach my code with code examples, not pretty pictures of examples. I have psd mocks of my site, now what's the best way to start my css and code? I've heard you start with your mobile version and keep it light and then write a style sheet for tablet and then the desktop. But what's the best way to do that? This book says take the minimum the mobile needs but make it still seem like the whole. No SH!*

I thought, $3 worth a look - don't bother. there are blogs out there with more information than this book.

As soon as i saw this book up for grabs, i waited no long and downloaded it right away. It was a pleasure reading it. I was expecting only theoretical information in it, but when i saw code examples, i understood that it is going to give me technical advices as well, and i wasn't wrong! Responsive is everywhere nowadays so i believe this short but really handy guide will help anyone out there!

Bunch of links and a few sentences.
I'm so pissed at the authors and myself for paying.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE.

3.0 out of 5 stars I guess the LINKS were worth $3 July 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Although this is titled a 'Quick Guide', I thought there would be more content with good code examples. There are pictures of some websites which show how they appear on desktop and iphone/ipad but not any of the code that achieves the result.

The last few pages of the book have some links to resources on the web. I found a lot of useful stuff and now have much MORE reading to do. I suppose this is where I got my $3 worth. I didn't have to spend hours going thru Google searches/links to find useful material.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seems like it was mostly screen captures April 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
You'd be better off just googling "responsive website design" and digging around. There were only a couple of topics covered and they just were really basic CSS settings. It seems like it was one page of text, a screen capture, another page of text, etc. then when they ran out things to say about the 2 things they seemed to know about the topic they just threw in a bunch of screen captures of desktop vs. mobile versions of various web sites. When they got sick of that, they added in a page of links about responsive web design that you could just as easily have gotten on google.

I thought it should have more detail and information.

Quick intro. It could have just an article and not a book.
