This novella feels like a novel - it's got meat! Rest for the Wicked takes you on a journey. With characters that will pull you in and tons of action, you won't be able to put the book down. This read is intense. I can't wait to see what happens next in the lives of the characters.

Note: This novel has adult contact with graphic, violent action scenes. This ain't no Harry Potter, as we might say in the South.

I have to say I love Cate Dean. Her books are fresh, unexpected, and unique. Rest For The Wicked - The Claire Wiche Chronicles Book 1 is an individual take on the traditional witch fantasy tale. Cate takes the fantasy tale of witches and throws in a little Jinn (male genie) and some demons for good measure. I was kept guessing right to the very end.
I'm really glad it's Book 1 because that means we will be seeing more of these characters, and I fell in love with them all. Sometimes a book ends and you are satisfied with where the characters are and what has happened to them, or you know enough to be able to picture how the story ends. I sooooo didn't get that with this book. I want to know more, much more.
I give this book 4.5 out of 5 clouds, and anxiously await book 2 (see fingers tapping anxiously on table as I wait).

This book contained so many of my favorite things to read about... witches, demons, otherworldly beings in general. There is a lot of mystery in this book and many questions are left to be answered, hopefully in the later books. Many things are explained by the end, for example how Claire became Claire. I am interested in finding out more about the relationships of the other characters and how they developed. Definitely adding the rest of the series to my "to read" shelf.

In trying to describe this without giving too much away, this story keeps you wondering, and making assumptions that don't always pan out almost the whole way through. The characters are fun, the story is good, and it has enough paranormal that, if you enjoy it, you are not left wanting. There is a bit of romance, and some sad parts, but overall, this was fun to read and left me wanting to get to the next book right away. This book seems to be a standard book size, but due to the story being fun, and the fairly easy way it is written, it did not take to long to get to the end. If you like paranormal romance, or paranormal suspense, then I would recommend giving this one a try.

Cate Dean is an excellent writer and now that I have read this book I will be seeking her others out. I hadn't heard of her until I received my kindle fire for Christmas, I got this book free, and am hooked!!!!! I will be reading more of this author, her work is right up my alley.

Rest for the Wicked by Cate Dean

This book was a free book offering, I added it to my to read book list based on the information I read on Goodreads, which made me interested in this book. I was pleasantly surprised as it is really a short read, however the story had meat and moved along at a fast pace. I found the characters and storyline excellent! The mystery about what Clare really was kept me turning the pages, she was a heroine with a Heart, and I fell in love with her. I am impatiently awaiting the next one and am hoping that it is a little longer, as the storyline and Heroine are refreshingly different. A great read, I give it 4 stars.
