3.0 out of 5 stars Slowly losing her special style to appeal to the masses
I love Laura Pausini with all my heart. It is with pained sadness that I see her unique musical style being slowly transformed into general rock banality in order to garner a larger audience. The Laura of "Le Cose que Vive" (which is her best album yet) was at her pinnacle, skilfully combining vocals, music, message and even style in an unparalled sense of artistry...

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and passionate Laura, February 28, 2005
This review is from: Resta in Ascolto (Audio CD)
Laura Pausini has for a long time enjoyed major singer status in Latin music. She has for years been a consistent producer of pop vocal hits in Italian as well as in Spanish. In Resta in Ascolto Laura surprises us once again by producing a passionate work of art that comes across powerful by adding a healthy dose of rock sounds as well as great piano and violin arrangements to her signature pop ballads and mellodies approach.

Some very interesting tracks to listen to: "La Prospettiva di Me", "Resta in Ascolto" -- a very sucessful international hit that carries Laura's tradition forward; and "Vivimi" -- a nice ballad where Laura's beautiful vocals are especially fit to carry you through a full range of emotions; also noteworthy is "Il Tuo Nome in Maiuscolo" a smooth, romantic ballad to dance to.

Resta in Ascolto is also available in Spanish as "Escucha Atento". A very good alternative for people interested in hearing great pop vocals and ballads crafted from a different perspective.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great!, August 7, 2005
By
This review is from: Resta in Ascolto (Audio CD)
This is the first Laura Pausini cd I have owned. Since then, I have bought the Spanish vers, the Spanish and Italian versions of "The Best of Laura Pausini", and "Tra Te e il Mare". Thank God I went to Europe this past spring and happened to hear "Il tuo nome in Maiuscolo" on one of the Scandinavian Airlines radio stations! I was so amazed by her voice that I looked up her name, wrote it down on a gum wrapper and bought this cd when I got home!
I would have to say that my favorite tracks are Vivimi, Resta in Ascolto, Il tuo nome in maiuscolo, and come se non fosse stato amore.
I would say that the first 6 tracks are great! However, it seems like the 2nd half of the cd meshes together. "Dove L'aria e Polvere" has beautiful lyrics though. The other tracks are great (except for the last one),but they just don't seem to distinguish themselves as well as the first 6.
The only reason I am giving this cd 4 stars is because of the last track, the one that Laura co-wrote with Madonna. I don't know why but I really hate this track. I think it's because of the line in English; it just doesn't belong or something. I always have to skip this track when I am playing the cd.
But other than that, no complaints! It's true that this cd is very different from her others; many places are more aggressive than her usual sound, but it's not a bad change.
Great work, Laura!

5.0 out of 5 stars LAURA STRIKES AGAIN WITH A RESOUNDING FORCE!!, October 31, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Resta in Ascolto (Audio CD)
I have been a HUGE fan of Laura Pausini since her very first appearance at San Remo Giovani when she won the hearts of the audience with her song "La Solitudine". Since then, I have intensely followed her career as her music MATURED and VARIED with each release. Her music speaks a universal language...You don't need to understand it to be blown away and captivated by her hauntingly beautiful vocal arrangements and catchy melodies.

RESTA IN ASCOLTO is Laura's 7th commercial Italian release and all I have to say is WOW!!!!!!!! This time, Laura experimented more on a contemporary rock sound that will definitely captivate listeners from song to song....It is full of emotion and power packed vocals and lyrics. The most touching and inspiring song is DOVE L'ARIA E' POLVERE, which is a tribute Ali Ismaeel Abbas (the 12 year old boy from Iraq who lost his family and his arms when his house was attacked by a rocket. www.aliabbas.net)

Laura also made a benchmark in her career by collaborating with Madonna on the track MI ABBANDONO A TE, which is a heart-felt ballad in the true Madonna style.

No song will disappoint you....If you are a new or old fan, do yourself a HUGE favour and buy this cd.

LAURA, SE LEGGI QUESTO ARTICOLO, VORREI DIRTI CHE TI AMO IMMENSAMENTE, DAL PROFONDO DEL MIO CUORE!!! SEI GRANDE E FORTISSIMA!!

I haven't really listened to her much since Le Cose Che Vivi. She did a Spanish CD since then and I sort of forgot about her the last few years.

I am so glad I stumbled acroos this new cd and took a chance on it. It is absolutely amazing. I can't stop listening to it.

Not too many CDs you can buy that don't have one bad song on it. It's a masterpiece from start to finish

3.0 out of 5 stars Slowly losing her special style to appeal to the masses, July 2, 2005
This review is from: Resta in Ascolto (Audio CD)
I love Laura Pausini with all my heart. It is with pained sadness that I see her unique musical style being slowly transformed into general rock banality in order to garner a larger audience. The Laura of "Le Cose que Vive" (which is her best album yet) was at her pinnacle, skilfully combining vocals, music, message and even style in an unparalled sense of artistry. That particular album is a masterpiece that I could listen to over and over again, because it touches on the classical elements in music. Her current works by contrast, esp. the rock songs, are easily forgotten, indistinguishable from the usual mediocrity one can hear anywhere. Part of what made Laura great is she was above the crowd, yet reaching toward us, using a musical style that is unique, timeless, dignified yet soulful; when she sings like anyone in the crowd (e.g. rock stars of today, who are more interested in making money than art), she loses her uniqueness, and frankly, my attention as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars something worth the money, December 26, 2005
By
This review is from: Resta in Ascolto (Audio CD)
the best ballad, in my opinion, is VIVIMI (Viveme). One of the best tracks off her latest album. Mi Perspectiva, Escucha Atento, Tu Nombre en Mayusculas, and Como Si No Nos Hubieramos Amado are some of her best tracks on the album. In my opinion, on every album Pausini has released, she is original in her lyrics and writing. While her ballads are bittersweet, her sound on this album, while somewhat of a rock sound, still has her beautiful voice for the ballads. My number one favorite is VIVIMI, spanish or italian version, its the best! Definitely worth owning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laura's best album yet, March 11, 2005

Another great album by La Pausini ! I adore it and listen to it almost every day. It's immediately recognisable as a Pausini album yet quite different; everthing sounds more aggressive, more international also, more pop. Fortunately, she managed to do this without losing the Italian identity or melodic sound, on the contrary (which is really exceptional): songs like "Come se non fosse ..." and "Vivimi" count amongst her very best work.
I even like the song written by Madonna -it's very delicate.
I saw her live last week and am even more impressed now: PURE CLASS !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have it!, June 18, 2005
This review is from: Resta in Ascolto (Audio CD)
After the release of La Mia Risposta in 1998 Laura Pausini hasn't caused any huge surprises among fans but with this new album she did it.. again. Even the first single Resta in Ascolto was a promise about something different.

Among the darker and more agressive rock songs and beautiful ballads there are few tracks worth of mention: Benedetta Passione is an excellent track, catchy tune, simple lyrics, great piece of work! And of course the song Dove l'Aria é Polvere written by Laura after being inspired by the story of Ali Ismail. No screaming only feeling. Serious music and lyrics makes you think about the victims of violence.
Mi Abbandono a te, the famous song made with Madonna herself and Cosí Importante were disappointments. In both tracks the intro is very intresting but along the way it disappeared..I don't know the reason.

Resta in Ascolto is definetely different album from Laura Pausini, like the picture on the cover, darker and rougher but thanks to the ballads such as Vivimi and Il tuo Nome in Maiuscolo you can still recognize the old Laura who we, old fans know so well. Though the album has its own bad moments every Laura Pausini fan must have it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mature work from a major international singer, February 26, 2005
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Resta in Ascolto (Audio CD)
Resta in Ascolta (Keep Listening) comprises a fine set of songs that convey the stages of Pausini's emotional reactions to the breakup of her 10-year relationship with her live-in boyfriend and now ex-manager. Anger, pain, loneliness, emotional paralysis, nostalgia for what was, hope for reconciliation, and the joy of a new relationship follow each other in these well sung pieces by major composers. Each piece sounds wonderfully distinct, from soft guitar ballad and simply piano/voice to techno dance tunes, they just get better every time. If you speak Italian, you'll admire the poetic images of several songs. And, it ends up on a positive and gentle guitar and electric organ sound behind a soft voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual, still excellent, November 15, 2004

This album departs a little from Laura's traditional style. It is nevertheless of prime quality. The sound is a bit raw, which however matches beautifully with the rock sounds she tried to embody in this work. For the old fan, the ballads are still there, compelling as always. Special note to her further growth as a writer, since she wrote or co-wrote all but two songs in the album.

P.S: She looks stunning on the CD cover, although a bit too gloomy.
