Aye, ye got to love those pirates...., August 11, 2007
This review is from: The Restitution (Legacy of the King's Pirates, Book 3) (Paperback)
This story centers around Lady Isabel Ashton and Captain Kent Carlton, both whom you met in The Reliance. Isabel has been shunned by her family because of her illegitimate son, Frederick. Kent has searched everywhere for Lady Ashton (the woman he could not forget). Finally he runs in to Richard Sawkins, a nobleman who tells him of Frederick existance. Frederick is then kidnapped and Isabel is beside herself. Kent shows up and vows to help her find her/their son. She is apprehensive about him helping but agrees feeling she has no other choice. Once aboard his ship she finds that he has made a big effort to see to her needs. Kent treats her with the upmost respect and kindness. Through the story you see both hearts changing. Can Isabel ever trust the pirate who ravished her and caused her to loose her title and wealth? Will Kent be willing to give up everything for Isabel and Frederick?
The story is a page-turner and will keep you up long into the night to find out what happens next. In the Reliance you saw a little change in Captain Carlton but... in the Restitution you see a change in Kent that makes him a worthy hero. I fell in love with him. You can feel the love he has for Lady Ashton and their son.
One thing I was hoping for was to see Merrick and Charlisse again but they were only mentioned in the beginning.
You could read this as a stand alone book but I would highly recommend you read the other two first for the complete story. The Redemption, The Reliance and The Restitution.
Great work MaryLu. I look forward to her next book The Falcon and the Sparrow due out Summer of 2008.

Swashbuckling and faith on the High Seas, October 26, 2007
This review is from: The Restitution (Legacy of the King's Pirates, Book 3) (Paperback)
The joy of reading this book, the third in the Legacy of the King's Pirates Series, is matched by the contented sigh when you finish it and the sorrow that there is not one more coming. Often, sequels are not as good as the original book. If that is what holds you back from this one, ignore it. MaryLu Tyndall has mastered the art of telling the story in a sequel and making it better than its predecessor.
Lady Isabel Ashton returned home from her captivity only to be shunned by her own people, her own family. After giving birth to her son, Frederick, the product of a pirate's attack, she is on her own. Even so, she clings to the hope of marrying a nobleman and restoring her position in society. Then her precious child is kidnapped.
Captain Kent Carlton, desires nothing more than Isabel's forgiveness and searches for her. He finds nobleman, Richard Sawkins and information concerning not only the birth of Fredrick, his son, but also the kidnapping. Kent determines to find his son and return Frederick to his mother and perhaps win her heart in the process. But what if it costs him his entrance into the Brethren of the Coast?
Isabel's young faith is tested as she watches the man who ravished her risk everything to save her and find their son. Can such an evil man change? Is her faith strong enough to be all she lives on? Which treasure on earth will she hold, money and position or love and hope?
MaryLu Tyndall has outdone herself. In some ways, you may like this book better than the first. Sit down to read this and taste the salty air, smell the seaports and feel the action as page by page you travel into a world of pirates, deception, love, and faith

Another exciting pirate adventure, September 10, 2007
This review is from: The Restitution (Legacy of the King's Pirates, Book 3) (Paperback)
In The Restitution, MaryLu Tyndall not only continued her thought provoking and action packed series set in the pirate-filled waters of the Caribbean, but she takes it to the next level. Her character development is strong and you'll find yourself cheering for characters you never thought you'd even tolerate, hurting with characters you've grown to love, and celebrating their victories in the battles of the high seas and the heart.
As in the previous books of this series Tyndall weaves the spiritual thread easily through the action packed scenes. This time she tackles the questions of "Can God redeem the most ruthless people?"; "What is most important-what is visible, or what is in the heart?" and "How can you trust God in the midst of incredibly challenging circumstances?"
If you enjoyed the first two books in this series, you won't be disappointed is this exciting pirate adventure.
