The Immortal Talent of Hugh B. Cave,
By
This review is from: The Restless Dead (Mass Market Paperback)
Hugh B. Cave has been writing intriguing tales of horror and the supernatural since the 1930's and yet his well of fresh and fascinating ideas has never run dry.An authority on voodoo after living many years in Haiti, Cave knows his stuff. Yet this book is not just another voodoo book. He manages to create an intriguing murder mystery with elements of palenotology, voodoo and other aspects of the supernatural. Well written with very believable characters and a wonderful "dark old house on the moors" atmosphere, this book works from beginning to end. I found I couldn't put it down once I started reading it as I just had to know, as an author myself, just how Cave would bring all the divergent aspects of the story together to for a logical, satisfying conclusion. I was not disappointed! I highly recommend this book to lovers of mystery and/or the supernatural!

Hugh Cave continues to write books that are hard to put down after so many years in the field...he is an inspiration to any writer. in THE RESTLESS DEAD, Cave's love for haitian voodoo comes to Florida in this quick, fun, easy to read yarn that features much suspense, some interesting characters, and plenty of voodoo-spawned creatures that will have monster fans in glee. Fun from start to finish.

I finished reading this book last night. It took me two nights to read it. That's how much I enjoyed it. The writing is smooth, unpretentious. The plot is solid and the ending was not a let down, not slashed through leaving you with the feeling that you'd been cheated of resolution of conflict. Read this one, you'll enjoy it.
