Travis Tritt's best,
By jasenao (Dothan, Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Restless Kind (Audio CD)
I'm not a huge Travis Tritt fan. Most of the albums he has made I wouldn't give maybe 1 or 2 stars, but Restless Kind is actually a pretty good album. The 3 big hits are all great songs. "Helping Me Get Over You" is one of the best duos to date and "Where Corn Don't Grow" has a lot of meaning to it. "More Than You'll Ever Know" is my favorite from this cd and it's just a good song. The rest of the songs on the cd are nothing to brag about, but they're not bad. Restless Kind should've been a hit in my opinion. If you're a Travis Tritt fan, you should like this album because I'm not really one of his fans, but this was one of the best albums of the year.

Real Country Music,
By Music Lover "Music Lover" (Lafayette, Indiana, USA) - See all my reviews

This CD is full of real country music. I love the song and the video for More Than You'll Ever Know. He does a good job with Lari White on Helping Me Get Over You. They have such good harmony vocals together on this song. I love the song She's Going Home With Me because of the music and the beat of the song. I love songs with a good beat. Where Corn Don't Grow is a very good song also. This is one of the best CD's of the 80's in country music.

Maintaining the Outlaw tradition,

Travis Tritt's mix of rocking country music interspersed by great ballads is very much in the tradition of Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Junior, although Travis does it his way with this album being typical. Like Waylon and Hank, Travis sometimes writes his own songs, sometimes with help from others, but he does not rely exclusively on such song.
The title track, one of the many rocking songs here, is a cover of a song first recorded by Highway 101 when Nikki Nelson was their lead singer (on the album Bing bang boom) and later recorded by Trisha Yearwood (on her album Thinking about you). Other notable rocking songs include Back up against the wall (a cover of a seventies oldie), Double trouble (with Marty Stuart) and She's going home with me. Among the ballads is Helping me get over you, featuring Lari White. Travis sings a verse and chorus then Lari sings a verse and chorus. It's not a duet in the true sense of the word but it is a great song. Other great ballads include Where corn don't grow (first recorded by Waylon on his scandalously-neglected album, Eagle) and Sack full of stones. Travis was past the peak of his popularity when he recorded this album but it is definitely worth a listen.

Travis comes at you with a love song "More than you ever know". Then a duet with Lori White and finishes you off with another duet with Marty Stuart. Kind of like a prize fighter, but with a little love!
