I am a huge fan of paranormal books, and I subscribe to the International Ghost Hunter's website. I was very anxious to get this book and searched at my local Borders several times, but it was not available in the store. When I did get the book through Amazon, I was disappointed in all the glaring grammatical errors in this book. The authors both have doctoral degrees, which makes me think that they have written a lot of papers and have had to do a lot of revisions. I would normally get a new book on this subject and devour it, but I have picked this one up and put it down quite a few times, just because it is so hard to read! The book was also quite expensive for a paperback, and I would have expected a lot more editing before they released the final product. The photos are not so great, either!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Journey Worth Taking into the World of Ghosts!!, June 21, 2007

This review is from: Restless Spirits Across America (Paperback)
Restless Spirits Across America takes you on an adventure that most will not experience in a lifetime. Sit back. Try to relax. Be prepared to embark on a journey that will take you to haunted Native American sacred burial grounds and ancient ruins. Read about the ethereal voices of Hopi, Pueblo and Navajo that can still be heard; the chanting, the beating of phantom drums. Travel to desert ghost towns where gold fever still runs strong among the dead and fair warning is given by those who once climbed into the deep, dark, abandoned shafts. Step back in time with Dr. Sharon Oester through a portal opening and witness the fate of a miner who later spoke of his own moment of death. Walk the path into the ruins of Fort Craig where ghostly entities with an attitude make their presence known. Read the story of eighty-seven pioneers as they traveled by wagon over 150 years ago through the Sierra Nevada Mountains; many succumbing to the elements, while it is believed others turned to cannibalism for survival; their suffering voices linger today. Stop off in San Antonio, Texas, where you will read of ghostly experiences at the Alamo and meet the ghost of a murdered chambermaid whose restless spirit continues to frequent the 2ND floor of the Menger Hotel. Continue your journey to pioneer cemeteries where ghostly entities cause an icy chill on a warm summer night and appear when you least expect it. Stop in an Arts and Crafts Store where you will be introduced to a ghost named Billie who loves pulling pranks. Travel east across the country and meet Jason Snider who sends shivers up your spine as he describes ghost investigations conducted in Spooky Cemetery, named after the town of "Spooky." You will also visit the private home of Davey Weaver in Quarryville, Pennsylvania where you will learn of a 42 year old resident ghost born in 1832 who speaks to the living, a ghost dog named Mollie, strange shadows that mysteriously appear, soft ghostly voices that are commonly heard, ectoplasm and recurring visiting balls of light and artic chills. About an hour up the road is Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, a place that has been labeled as one of the most haunted battlefields in the country. Read about the apparitions of a fallen regiment on the Wheatfield and the spine chilling sounds, smells, feelings and sightings on the Triangular Field. Travel on to Johnstown, Pennsylvania where you will read of the unidentified and forgotten dead; those who drown during one of the most tragic man-made disasters in U.S. History, the great flood of 1889; their voices still crying out for help. A short drive from Johnstown is Shanksville, Pennsylvania where you will read of the experiences of Security Officer Robert Wagstaff, assigned to stand watch over the crash site of United Flight 93 shortly after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. This story has been superbly written by Dave and Sharon with compassion and the utmost respect for all involved. Another touching story that stands out is of a young ghost boy named Jeffrey who frequently appears to patients of a hospital who are critically ill and have few hours left in this world; discover what message he brings. Drs. Dave and Sharon also share their intriguing stories on Ghost Pets and how love survives the grave between man and animal. This is a "must have" book and is sure to provide comfort to anyone who is grieving the loss of a beloved companion. Included in the book are a magnitude of detailed historical facts and excellent educational articles that assist the reader in learning about ghosts, Electronic Voice Phenomena (voices of the dead), Parallel Dimensions and Shadow People. These are only a sample of the stories included in Restless Spirits Across America; an excellent source of information written by experts in the field of ghost research, Drs. Dave and Sharon Oester. It is well worth the price to take this journey across America; a journey that consists of thousands of miles, years of studying and countless hours of documenting evidence. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the mystery of life beyond the grave and the ghostly true accounts of what continues to happen throughout our great nation.

I have read and enjoyed many books on Ghosts and the Paranormal. I just love this book and would recommend it to any Ghost Hunter. You can learn about some history of the sites that Drs. Dave and Sharon Oester have visted. THIS BOOK BEATS THEM ALL !..."IT TOPS ALL THE REST". If I could give it a BETTER RATING then just five stars I would. HOW ABOUT TEN ( 10 ) STARS or MORE. Some may think that it may cost a little too much, but it is REALLY PRICELESS in my opinion.
Many Thanks for a book as interesting as this. Keep up the GOOD WORK and THANKS AGAIN.
Regards,
John

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book By Dave and Sharon, February 11, 2008
This review is from: Restless Spirits Across America (Paperback)
Again, another great book written by this husband and wife team. What I truly enjoy about their writings is for the most part, what you read in their books, they've experienced it in some way. Either they've been to the location to do their research or they were there doing their research and were witnesses to a paranormal experience. A lot of authors just do research and then write about it. You're getting a lot of first hand information and tons of research to back it up. Another great thing with this book is your getting a history lesson as well, not just another ghost story. You will learn the history behind the haunted location they visited and you'll learn possible reasons for the hauntings themselves. I truly enjoy this style of writing and if you enjoy history, you'll enjoy it as well. Drs. Dave and Sharon Oester are co-founders of the International Ghost Hunters Society. Take a minute and check out their website at www.ghostweb.com. If you're at all interested in spirits, ghosts, and the paranormal, this is a "must see" website and is packed with a lot of great information. Thanks again Dave and Sharon for another great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spirits Are Everywhere, July 28, 2007

This review is from: Restless Spirits Across America (Paperback)
There are things unseen and unheard by most. In Restless Spirits Across America the Oester's provide evidence, through their research and others, that we are not alone. If you are interested in getting a peak at the existence of spirits with a scientific no nonsense approach, this book is a must read. Their stories are sure to hold your attention as they relate the investigations, and experiences of theirs and others. Whether it be a historic site, cemetery, private residence, or public building you will surely see that spirits are everywhere.

In the book they give a link to their website where you can hear some of the voices of those in spirit from the stories. Also known as Electronic
Voice Phenomena. If you've never heard someone in spirit talking, it will blow you away when you do. Trying to describe an EVP, is like trying to describe how a rose smells. I would say even more difficult, because most people don't believe an EVP exists. I would also add that if a picture is worth a thousand words, an EVP is no less than tenfold.
