In Restore My Soul: A Grief Companion, Lorraine Peterson presents an informative, "reader friendly" guide for Christians needing to face and understand their feelings in coping with the loss of a loved one. The emotions arising from the death of a friend, family member, or colleague can be devastating as unresolved grief threatens to result in emotional, psychological, or spiritual isolation. The thirty-one short, easy-to-read chapters compassionately and articulately address ways and means to cope with life after loss. Each chapter presents a brief reflection on the issue of loss, followed by carefully selected Scripture readings and a suggested prayer. Restore My Soul is urgently recommended reading for anyone (regardless of denominational affiliation) whose soul has been savaged by the loss of a parent, spouse, child, relative, friend, companion, or colleague.

This book allows for gentle healing in the grief journey. It contains short, but so specific feelings - that encourage the reader to find their strength. I work in a counseling role and highly recommend this book to all - at any stage in grief - it will help move them forward so they can continue to grow.

I love the book! I think it is a wonderful book to give a friend who has just lost a child or soon after to help them begin to grieve in a gentle loving way. I lost my son almost 6 years ago and I enjoy reading it. God's word has always been my saving grace through the grief of my son. His love can give comfort that no one else can.

As far as spiritual books dealing with grief, this is by far the best I've found. After the loss of my husband, this book brought me great comfort. I have since bought copies for grieving friends. I highly recommend it.

Having lost a son, I know what grieving is all about. This book was one of the most helpful books that gave me hope and inspiration through a very dark time. I have read and re-read this book and have purchased extra copies to give to others who find themselves in a situation of great loss. This book is a collection of 30-days worth of readings that are short observations about the grieving process and the overwhelming feelings that accompany loss; and includes uplifting bible verses from the Old and New testaments. The writer captures the feelings of loss and offers a glimmer of hope for each day.
