No, this is not the kind of CD I would normally get. But the youth at church just love Jeremy Camp, and it was on sale, so I thought I'd take a chance. And I love it!

What I love most about this CD is the honesty of the lyrics. The overarching theme seems to be surrendering to God in the struggle with pride and our sinful nature. This is something anyone can relate to no matter where they are in life. This is most obvious in "Lay Down My Pride," but shows up again in such songs as "My Desire," "Be the One," and "Letting Go."

Another theme is the faithfulness of God when we aren't faithful to live for him. Which brings us to my favorite song from the disc. "Take You Back" is based on God's promise to keep forgiving us no matter how much we sin. Close behind it, and on the same theme, is "Even When."

While the style has been toned down a peg from the hard rock of his debut, this CD still rocks. My only real complaint is that many of the songs sound the same and start to run together.

This is a great CD that will introduce many new people to a fresh talent in Christian music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Getting Closer To God, May 16, 2005
This review is from: Restored (Audio CD)
Looking for music that brings you closer to God and his gift of salvation? Jeremy's music is a simple offering to the One who gave him his ability - God. It is what you may be looking for.

#1. Restored - This song is perfect for the title of Camp's CD. It is also a great intro-to-the-CD song. It demonstrates his ability to keep his music simple yet moving, grounded yet heavenly. "I've only come to realize my strength will be made perfect at your throne." Oh, won't it be great when we all get to bow down before our King? We are indeed RESTORED.

#2. Take You Back - I do believe this song gets the most radio play. It is a song about falling down. It is a song about the God-Man who is there to lift us up and tell us He'll take us back. This is an inspiring song that flows so well I expect angels sing it in Heaven! I look forward to the day when I can sing-a-long with Camp, the angels, and Jesus to celebrate the One who takes us back. Is it really that far away?

#3. Even When - A little slower song. This one relies a little more on Camp's voice to carry it. It is really hard to follow up the first two songs on this CD, but "Even When" is pretty good.

#4. Lay Down My Pride - Starts of more like dialogue than a song, but this song then kicks into high gear, proving that Camp has real diversity in his music. If you like songs that move around quite a bit, you'll like this one.

#5. My Desire - This one kinda carries over "Lay Down My Pride", but way slowed down. I had to listen to this song more than one time to really like it. Adrienne Camp is on the background vocals of this one, but it was hard to hear her voice. Couldn't really tell if she is as great on vocals as Jeremy. Not that I'm gonna lose any sleep over it. The cool thing is, I've listened to this song three times now, and each time I like it more!

#6. Be The One - I'm starting to notice that Camp's lyrics aren't very specific. In other words, up to this point of the CD, I don't see the kind of personal, up close, dramatic lyrics like Bethany Dillon has on her CD. That's not a bad thing. I just am trying to get a sense of the person Camp is by reading into his lyrics. At times, I don't get a glimpse. So my only complaint on this song and a couple others is that some of the lyrics seem a bit generic. Just trying to be honest. I'm 38 years old and have been listneing to music since I was a tot. My first word as a baby was RADIO! :-)

#7 Everytime - Good beat, good message, and this song really shows Camp's ability to sing. I liked it more than "Be The One".

#8. Letting Go - This one seemd like filler. Certain songs on a CD just seem like they are there to take up space. I think the lyrics on this song are fine...the music needed a rewrite. There was nothing special or uniquie about the way this song was put together. It was almost too simple.

#9. Breathe - Very unique entry. Grabbed me in right from the start. I was wondering where Camp would take me to with this song. It was definitely a change-up from "Letting Go", but even this song was a little bit of a letdown. In my honest opinion, Jeremy Camp needs to push his creativity a little more. He needs to be more edgy, risky, and reaching. Go beyond what he thinks he can.

#10. This Man - A song about what our Savior did for us. A strong, powerful song about the man who changed our destiny, a man who conquered evil with love. One of the most powerful songs on the CD. This song deserves more airplay!

#11. Innocence - This one just didn't work for me. It seemed forced, normal, not inspired. Man, I can be brutal, can't I?

#12 Nothing Else I Need - Lyrics are good, music is a little too simple, repetitive, and predictable.

All in all, a good CD. But if there is one thing I learned about Jeremy Camp, it is this - this guy's best CD has yet to be made. I think this is one musician with more potential than he may even know. I look forward to his next CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Restored is not Stay, that doesn't mean it's bad., November 25, 2004

I'm not sure I'm what you'd call a Jeremy Camp "fan", but I enjoy his music and he carves a little bit different niche than most contemporary christian artists. Let me be clear, I loved Stay, and I was disappointed with Carried Me. In that context, I will say unhesitantly that Restored is an outstanding album. I enjoy almost every track (if I had to cut one track, it would probably have to be "My Desire", which seems painfully slow and out of place with the rest of the album). My personal favorites from this album include "Restored", "Take You Back", "Everytime", and "This Man". While it's true the album takes a generally softer edge than Stay (the only song that reminds me of that album is "Lay Down My Pride") it still manages to have Jeremy Camp's tone of 'hard, but not too hard'. I think some of what people are really griping about is that this is a softer, more personal album than Stay, but it's that extra dose of emotion and tenderness which I find so compelling. Overall, a great album, and a great look into the soul of one of God's more astute messengers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Strong album from rising Christian artist, January 18, 2005

My wife bought me Restored for Christmas since I like Jeremy's Carried Me worship CD so much. I was not sure to expect with this effort, but Jeremy does not disappoint. Simply put, his song writing is getting better, and his music is starting to mature.

I particularly like the first few songs on the album, and the last few. They are all very good. Jeremy's lyrical content continues to grow stronger, and I think his sound is much tighter on this album. If you have never heard Jeremy Camp listen to the title track to see if you like it. If you do, you will really enjoy the rest of the album.

I highly recommend this CD to every Jeremy Camp fan. If you are new to modern Christian music, or have never heard of Jeremy Camp this album is a great starting point.

Note - An additional bonus on the album is a pretty short video (20 minutes) which details Jeremy's life and the struggles he has faced. This is the same video on his In 24 DVD. I played this video once for my Sunday school class and the students were blown away by it. You could hear a pin drop at the end, and many eyes were filled with tears. His story is truly inspiring.

5.0 out of 5 stars He just keeps getting better!!!, December 6, 2004
This review is from: Restored (Audio CD)
I love Jeremy Camp!!! I went to his November concert when he performed at College for a Weekend at Liberty University in Virgina. It was AWESOME!!!! I really liked him before but now, you might as well call me a "Camper". He is such an amazing person and artist. "Restored" ties in my book with "Stay", both are powerful albums and really show Jeremy's heart. "Restored" is totally worth buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm so glad I stumbled upon this CD, September 28, 2006
This review is from: Restored (Audio CD)
I was at the Christian bookstore shoping for my wife and the front counter had this album on sale for $5. Not one who spends a lot of time listening to music I recognized the artist but none of the songs.

I'm so glad I picked it up.

Great lyrics focused on a surrendered life that recognizes God's provision and power. Just the kind of thing we need to remind ourselves of more often!

The truth of the words sung with catchy semi-rock melodies pull you in and allow the listener to close their eyes and just imagine releasing all to the Lord Almight.

The quality and sound of the music is top-notch, nothing hokey here. Great mixing.

The few times I've dished out money for a CD I've had a rule that I need to really like at least 3 of the 10 songs on a disc. I like REALLY like 10 of the 12 songs on this album.

I look forward to his newest release coming out October 2006. Thanks Jeremy for a great album that I actually use for worship.

4.0 out of 5 stars glad we got it, October 28, 2005
This review is from: Restored (Audio CD)
I like rock the best but sometimes you need contemporary too for easy going times. he sings good and I respect his christian lyrics instead of singing crossover lyrics that "could be" taken as christian. I prefer masculine vocals and he sounds kind of like a california skater to me but the music's good and Im glad I have his cd's and I recommend them all.

Jeremy Camp
Restored (2005)

Restored, by Jeremy Camp, is a great example of worship and inspiration. Jeremy Camp has a distinct baritone voice that rings out with a solid Christian message. This album has modern sound with a solid rock beat. Some of the songs demonstrate a heavier and stronger beat, while some are more serene and ballad-like.

Track 2: Take You Back has a serene, rock, ballad tempo. This son brings the listener closer to God with its message. The main message is of renewed hope and salvation through Jesus Christ no matter what you may have done in the past. The Lord will always take you back.

Track 4: Lay Down My Pride starts as a ballad but, during the chorus, Jeremy Camp's signature beat comes through. This son explains how Jesus Chris sacrificed Himself for us. A second message tells the listener not to let your pride get in the way of your salvation.

There is a common theme throughout this album. Jeremy Camp is bringing to the world, through his music, the truth of Jesus Christ's sacrifice for our sins; and, if you do not let pride get in the way, you can benefit from Christ's sacrifice through salvation.

I enjoy Jeremy Camp's diversity of soft and hard rock sounds. He also uses orchestral accompaniment in some of his songs. This album really moved me. If you are looking for and album with an uplifting message of salvation with a modern rock sound, Restored is the album for you.

This album is a long awaited addition to any Jeremy Camp collection. Jeremy Camp brings a strong Christian message to a youth oriented culture with a steady rock beat.

As an added bonus, Jeremy Camp offers a separate insert in this album with detailed insights into every song. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars His best album yet, December 11, 2004
This review is from: Restored (Audio CD)
Jeremy Camp appeals to all kinds of audiences, and his latest album has snagged me the most. I had a hard time listening to his first 2 albums because most of the songs were very loud and repetitive in their lyric and style. I love bands like John Mayer, Coldplay, Matchbox Twenty, and Jack Johnson. I appreciate well-composed, beautiful albums that carry heavy, slower ballads as well as more "pop" upbeat songs.

I disagree with previous reviewers about the strongest song on his album. His record is promoting "Take You Back" as his new "hit single" but I'd have to stay that song song "My Desire" is probably one of the most beautiful, authentic and powerful songs he has ever produced on an album. Very, very good music.

Let me start off by saying that I've been a Jeremy Camp fan for quite some time now - I've even gone as far as to introduce a few of his songs into Worship sets at my church. Needless to say, I couldn't WAIT for this album to be released. I loved the driving energy, the passionate lyrics, and the excellent songs on his debut CD, Stay. After listening to this new release, I have a question for Mr. Camp. What's going on?? Electronic drums? Violins? Barely audible guitar riffs with some weak guitar solos? This is a very "safe" album, meaning that it isn't as heavy as his past efforts and a lot of the songs don't seem as lyrically deep or revealing. It will appeal to a wide range of people of all ages. I understand that he is in a new season in his life, being that he is remarried and has a baby girl. I guess what I was disappointed about was I LOVED every song on "Stay" and I couldn't wait to hear that same formula applied to new songs this time around.

All that being said, for those who aren't a seasoned Camper, there is a lot on this album to like. My favorite song on the disc so far is "Lay Down My Pride" - if the whole CD rocked as hard as that song I would have given this disc 5 stars.

Other songs that appealed to me were "Restored", "Take You Back" & "Everytime". Some of the songs on the CD sound similar...either because of the way they start or due to the chords that are being used. I know that this is his 2nd CD released this year and it's a solid effort, but it's just not up to what his full potential is. Jeremy, stick to your roots man - you have an awesome voice and if you can keep the material heavy and rocking, your fans will not be disappointed!
