Restrictions Is Esential,

Restrictions the third lp by Cactus is absolutlely my favorite by the band ...Cactus the first lp is great....One Way Or Another is also recommended ....but for pure rock enjoyment get yourself a copy of Restrictions! I strongly suggest the purchase now of all three before they again become unavailable .....and they will count on it even though the band is fantastic...The album has Howlin Wolfs " Evil " and it is amazing as is " Guiltless Glider " you have to hear the Bogert bass on this song it is as low as I have ever heard and with Rusty Days vocals and Jim Mccarty's guitar you will dig it for sure! For any up and coming guitarists out there if you haven't studied Jims playing you are missing out! he uses an Ampeg Scrambler which by the way has been re-released and he gets sounds out of the thing that are just amazing....McCarty should have been as big as Page or Kossof but it was not in the cards for Cactus ...but you can right a wrong and pick up all three lps of the original band ( anything not by the original group is poor at best ) up to and including the new cd just released .....I bought it but only out of respect for the guys ...but actually without Rusty the band can not really be Cactus ....Rusty bless you and your son...well go get Restrictions pronto!

Acid Rock at its BEST!!!,

A super album representative of the acid rock from the early 70's. Wounded Bird comes through again with a great sounding CD. If you like 70's hard rock, you should definetly check this out and also the other two cactus CDs from that era (the self titled album and "One way or Another").

An Underappreciated Classic!,

During the Seventies nobody rocked harder in the "Boogie/Blues" genre than these guys. Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice are one of the greatest bass/drum tandems in the history of Rock and Roll. It's too bad they really don't get their due today. "Evil" and "Restrictions" are about as ferocious tracks as you will find in this genre; the kind of raw power that later artists like Pat Travers would try to emulate and not quite equal. If you liked the Beck Bogert and Appice album or their "Live in Japan" disc, you will LOVE this one. This is the direction BBA would have taken had they stayed together. It also benefits from a vocal upgrade with Rusty Day as lead singer instead of Carmine.

Not as good as I was hoping. It is decent boogie rock however Song structures are kinda weak but instrument talent is there, just not very catchy or memorable. Still better than a lot of the junk out there today
