Wimp Bizkit!!! HA!!!,
By Weak and Weary (If I told you, you'd send hate mail.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Results May Vary (Clean) (Audio CD)
In my 8th grade year(2000), it somehow became the epitome of `cool' to own any album by LIMP BIZKIT. Why? Because they were loud, heavy, cussed a whole bunch, and were utterly mesmerized with the idea of sex. Since all of these things were completely contrary to all the morals our parents had taught us keep, we, the rebellious pre-teens we were, obviously embraced it. The same could be said for KORN, METALLICA, NINE INCH NAILS, and all those other bands that love Satan alot. NOW, of course, we realize how silly and retarded LIMP BIZKIT truly is.Unlike my hard-core peers, I'd never quite connected with all of these `unconventional', rebellious ideals, so I've never really experienced the stupidity of this band until my friend burned me a copy of "Results May Vary". I'd heard the single `Eat You Alive', and I thought it was pretty cool. I mean, that riff was SICK, and the vocals from Fred Durst were pretty strong and interesting. I thought. So I listened. And to tell the truth, I like most of the music on the record. Some of it is sorta heavy(`Eat You Alive', `Gimme the Mic', `Head for the Barricades'), but most of the album is sort of not. The second single, the WHO cover `Behind Blue Eyes', is a very soft and, seriously, a very touching song when played by these guys. Please forgive my ineptitude, but I really just could never connect with it the same way when played by it's original creators. The closing track `Drown' is my favorite on the album. There's absolutely NO heavy parts at all. It starts soft and stays that way through the whole track. I love Fred's voice, alright? It's great on this song, on `Behind Blue Eyes', on `Eat You Alive', on `Underneath the Gun', on `Build a Bridge', on lots and lots of songs. If I were grading the album solely on it's musical/vocal merits, it would get a solid four stars, no joke. BUT... the lyrics that are causing a travesty that I simply can't ignore. Almost every song, besides a select few, contain some of the most mundane lyrics ever put to record. I assume relentless `cool' references to sex, extreme usage of `radical' cusswords, `intense' whining of depression over your consistent failure in life and how miserable your existence has been are all a bunch of things that will you sell millions of records. And I don't know about your other albums, but this one is definitely proving that. Retards. MY TOP PICKS: These guys are down alot. 2.5 stars, blown up to three. If you're a rebellious eight grader, this is all you need. As well as some MUDVAYNE, or whatever else is mindless metal.

I'm surprised by this cd. I've never been a Limp Bizkit fan, in fact I definatly make a point to stay away from nu-metal in general. Usually I'm more of and indie rock kid but I heard the single "Eat You Alive" and was really surprised. If a band like Thursday had released the song people would have applauded. On that note I would alos like to say that I didn't run out and buy the album. I picked it up for a buck at the local record exchange cause it was a dollar and I was pretty happy with it. Songs like "build a bridge" and the "only one" are really good. check this out. used.

Limp Bizkits 4th release 2003,

This is Limp Bizkits fourth studio album and the first album recorded without guitarist Wes Borland.Although you do notice the absence of guitarist Wes Borland, it is still a very good.I would say it is isn't in the league of the other three but that is just my opinion & it is still has very good songs and still has the LB sound. If you are a LB fan, then you should like this album. There is a "making of" this album on youtube, that goes into the background & making of LB's "Results May Very".I say "buy it!"

Adaquate, but lacks direction and originality,

Everyone wants to hate on Limp Bizkit, right? Isn't how that it goes for "Take A Look Around?" All kidding aside, I try to be fair to the band's releases (I did give TUQPart1 three starts out of five.) After so many years (what, like 5 or 6?) I finally decided to check the album out and it only confirmed what I was thinking about it before: the album lacks a large amount of direction and originality.
Now, there are a few highlights here. John Otto and Sam Rivers are an excellent rhythm section, and the guitar work of both Rivers and Mike Smith isn't bad, so it's not like the music's horrendous. The songwriting in terms of however, leaves a lot to be desired. "Eat You Alive" sounds exactly like every aggressive Limp Bizkit song with the rapped verses and overly aggressive choruses, only the hook isn't as catchy as the previous Limp Bizkit songs. "Lonely World" goes on to feature some of the most disjointed rapping I've noticed in a while. And for a guy who accomplished a lot from 1997-2003, Durst's lyrical topics seem to bring up the fact that he has it so bad. I guess my eking out a living as a middle-class nobody is far less challenging in comparison to living the high-life as a media mogul. The originality of the songs should rightfully come into question. "Gimme The Mic" sounds like the lyrics were taken from a B-side Beastie Boys song, "The Only One" is a blatant and shameless Helmet rip off, "Red Light-Green Light" sounds unremarkable to every other rap song coming out during those times, and "Drown" sounds like it should have been performed by the Limp Bizkit buddies in Staind. All and all, this sounds less like an album and more of a compilation of songs crammed together in an attempt to try to salvage whatever portion of their fan base was left once Wes Borland quit the band (and whatever fan base was left after Durst started to worry more about his career as opposed to his band's.) The band can't seem decide what style of metal they want to be, they can't seem to decide what style of rap they want to be, so they just throw darts all over the place and hope it will stick. Maybe that was good enough to get enough people interested, but considering how rapcore had been beaten to death by the time this album was released, and how many of their fans had grown disinterested with what was becoming a stale sound, it isn't any surprise to me that the album ended up the way it did: critically reviled and a shadow of what their previous releases were.

Something New,

If your a traditional limpbizkit fan then you might not enjoy this album much as it only has 3 heavy songs(Eat You Alive, Gimmie the Mic, and Head for the Barricade) however limpbizkit with temporary guitarist Mike Smith take a new approach in this album as the songs like Build a Bridge and Down Another Day are emotional and have real meaning. If you would like to see how limpbizkit has evolved as a band and gone in new directions but still kept some of the same stuff that we all love then pick up Results May Vary.

This CD Rocks!,

Whatever you do, don't listen to the other guy for a review. This CD is truely one of Limp Bizkit's finest accomplishments. The first three are definately mosh-type songs which let you know that, though Wes has left, they can still rock just as hard. Songs like "Gimme the Mic" and "Red Light-Green Light" continue onwards with their former hip-hop style. If you thoroughly enjoyed any of the bands old CDs, I would immediately advise you to get a hold of this as soon as possible.

Dunno about the CD, but they ripped off The Who,
By A Customer
This review is from: Results May Vary [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
They ripped off The Who's song "Behind Blue Eyes". The Who did a much better job with that song, and if you think that Limp Bizkit is a genius for that song, you are dumb. Get The Who's version and enjoy it instead.
