It's a damn good book, indeed!,
By Joanne Wambeke (Denver, CO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Resume Catalog: 200 Damn Good Examples (Paperback)
As a career counselor who has helped hundreds of students and career transitioners market themselves through their resumes, I constantly refer to this book for layout and content ideas. The resume is often the first impression a potential employer has of a candidate and it can be the difference between getting an interview or not. This book has great examples of how to showcase one's skills & experience in an easy-to-read, attractive manner. It's the most used book on my book shelf!

Highly Recommended! The best book on resume I know.,

I teach a seminar to clients of the Texas Workforce Commission. Yana's books are the best on resumes I have seen, and I review a lot of resume books. She is direct, inspiring and right on target. I know from experience that what she suggests works because I have seen so many people be successful after they understand the concept of targeted, relevant resumes. Do yourself a favor. Buy the book.

I found this book helpful in getting three job offers in my recent job search. One caution: Employers seem to prefer chronological over functional resumes, but that might be just be my industry (management information systems).

I'm not good at being objective in reviewing my own resume. The help I got from Yana Parker's book and other elements in her home page were very useful in letting me be more objective. I've got what I consider an age problem (61 and counting). With her help, I was able to make a much better presentation of what I have to offer while not being dishonest about this factor. Thanks.

I used it to update my resume and now my resume is 10 times better than before! One of the many things that it includes is a list of tough problems that you might come across. This list tells you where to find the specific example resumes to illustrate solutions to each problem.

This book is great. I use it on a daily basis in our Career Center. The examples are easy for my clients to use and the book is well written. Readers should also look for Yana's newest product--fill in the blank workbooks. These are great for clients who have trouble expressing themselves without a little prodding.

This book breaks down what makes a resume great; title, skills, and all the things you need to know on how to write a damn good resume is in this book. It covers everything from IT technician, to Administrative assistance. It gives you examples on how to go for the job, and get it on the spot, and shows what to put, and what not to put on a resume. This book is a definite get for anyone wondering on how to write a functional resume and make you feel like you are the king of the world. The books gives MANY examples for people who dont know how to write good resume's, and trust me it is HARD! This book takes your hand, and shows you that you can write a good resume, and it is great for someone who is looking for a job, but dont know how to write a good resume, this book is a MUST GET for a employer.

I really love how the book has layouts for even the oddest job and for people who have experience, but as a recent grad from college and not having a whole lot of experience in the workforce, I found it to be not as helpful as I'd had hoped it to be.
