I found this book to be very useful and easy to use. Easy to use is great since this is a fairly long book that you do not want to have to dig through every time you want to up date your resume. The tips and outlines in the book were very helpful. I do with the resume templates were easier to locate within the book and that the book spent a little more time on CVs other than that the book was exceptional.

This is the BEST resume book ever put together. I started a resume wrting business and this is the one I use every day. It is by far the most in-depth (at near 600 pages) step-by-step practical guide to everything you need in specific detail from action verb keywords for specific industries and positions to exactly how to format in Word! Also valuable are the impact-mining questions to generate the copy for a top notch resume AND how to lead into and craft your qualifications summary (a must have). I cannot say WOW enough!!

I don't normally bother to write reviews but I just published a very negative review for another book and in that review I recommended anyone considering it should instead buy Resume Magic. So it only seemed fair that I enter a positive review for this book.

I am updating my Resume and wanted to incorporate some of the current ideas and formats so that my applications had the best chance of being considered. This book provided the help I was looking for and I believe that I have been able to improve the presentation of my Resume as a consequence. While it is too early in my job search to tell if my belief will actually turn out to be true, I would still recommend this book to anyone whether they are a new graduate or an experienced professional.

I do want to mention one important negative; I bought the Kindle version of this book and even reading it on my computer screen (Kindle for PC) most of the example resumes are virtually unreadable. Although I have not tried to read the book on my Kindle device yet, I have to believe that those example resumes are completely unreadable. You may be better off purchasing the hard copy.

This book is very good. The only thing that I kept doing while flipping through it is I'd be studying a resume format and then realize that this is the "before" version, and then I was delighted to see the "after" version was there, and quite good. I especially found the examples of phrases useful in putting together a resume. You can go down the list of action verbs and see how many you can use to help describe your accomplishments, such as: "Tripled - Tripled sales volume in an established territory" or "Familiarized - Familiarized customers with company features and benefits". You can scan all the action verbs and make your own sentences. There are pages of them. Good luck to you - this book is sure to help!

While the content of this book is okay, much of it is not readable on a standard Kindle. Tables, diagrams, and example resumes and cover letters are too small to read on the Kindle and they are saved in such a way that you can't zoom to make them larger. This practically renders the book of little value. May be a very good book to order the print version, but it does not meet minimum requirements for readability on the Kindle and should not be offered on this platform unless they fix how the graphics are presented.

I coach Career Transitioners, and returning military personnel who are working on post-military employment. As far as I'm concerned, Whitcomb's "trade secrets" is the bible for resume writing. Examples, reasons, surveys, worksheets--everything that's necessary to more effectively communicate who you are, what you can do for an employer, and to punch up the language so they get the message the first time. You've got 10 seconds to get your message across. Whitcomb tells you how to do it.

This book contains many examples of resumes, including before and after examples.

Information on words to use, as well as a grammar refresher, will help you polish the phrases on your resume and avoid tiresome, overused phrases.

There is also a section on cover letters and a section devoted to making your resume visually appealing so that it stands out.

I found tons of useful information in this book, not just platitudes and superficial advice like some resume books dish out.

Very thick book with lots to read. If you are looking for a book to help you write a killer resume, then this book is for you. If you are looking for a book to help you write a quick resume, then there are other, more basic books for you. I landed a great job using the information in this book. I read it for about three months before writing it though.

I found Resume Magic to be very helpful. I had paid a lot of money for a professsional resume that just wasn't workig. I tweaked it with tips from this book and had a new job within 2 weeks. The only negative is there is so much information it could be overwhelming if you are starting a resume from scratch and/or have never built a resume.

i immediately incorporated some ideas from the book. i only got up to chapter five but the changes i made to my friends resume was really wow!
it requires alot of thought and effort to produce a selling resume. it's certainly worth the money, if you want to produce the resume that will really make a difference.
