Chapter 1: Although statistics vary, most personnel experts in large companies would agree that the average employment manager reviews 20,000 resumes each year. Using that figure, let's do a little math. Let's give this overworked employment manager a two-week vacation each year. Thus, she has 400 resumes to review each week or 80 to review each working day. During the working day this employment manager is traveling and conducting interviews. In her stack of resumes most will end up in the "that's a reject" pile. Some in that pile were undoubtedly the resumes of qualified candidates. But they failed to understand what the employer was looking for and how best to display their credentials proving they had exactly what the employment manager wanted.
