“The Resurrection of Samuel Clemens” offers a glimpse into the future by relating the story of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain) as he is resurrected back to life in the year 2061. Grant Wakeman, a Twain aficionado, has the privilege of welcoming Mr. Clemens to a world wherein almost everything has drastically changed: the ‘unholy trinity’ of corrupt politics, hypocritical religion, and greedy commerce has been eradicated. Politically, there is one world government. As to religion, there is no longer a professional clergy class. On the economic front, cooperation has superseded competition.

About the Author
Clay Shannon, like Samuel Clemens, has worked in various occupations, ranging from cowboy to computer programmer and from laboratory technician to interpreter at an outdoor museum. Also somewhat Twain-like, Shannon has lived in seven states and visited forty nine. A native northern Californian, Shannon has resided in Angels Camp (the location of "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County") as well as other towns in that county.

My futuristic, optimistic novel should be appealing to anyone who wonders what life could be like if there were no more war, poverty, disease, or death, and where a reunification of people with their (formerly) dead loved ones is possible.Additionally, serious Twain fans (Twainiacs) should find the book interesting, as countless references to Twain's life and times, as well as allusions (in addition to numerous direct quotations) to his writings are made throughout.
