4.0 out of 5 stars Finally everything is resolved
The wait is over for me to read this book 6 long years after reading the others before this. I can't say I'm not glad that the story is finally finished, but now after reading it, I am sort of disappointed as to how the story and the plot unraveled and where they had led to. I'd imagined something more after all the chaos and climactic actions in the forth book but to me,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Like I Expected, June 28, 2009
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
Like the other reviewers, I had waited a long time for this one. Some of the plot tie ups were expected, but others just felt a long time coming. After remembering the battles in the other books, one thing became clear when reading this one-the authors didn't like killing off characters. For everyone that "died"-someone ended up coming back (hence I guess, "Resurrection") but I found myself wanting closure for some of the characters. At the end of this book I felt like almost every character had a near death, death, or ghost experience, and it ended up seeming like nothing but a jumble at the end. It was nice to finally have a conclusion to the series, but that is really the only reason to read this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed after much anticipation, November 9, 2010
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
The first books in this series were so wonderful and thrilling with many twists and turns, but alas, there were too many twists and turns for my liking in this one. I felt like I was discovering something new every few pages. It was just too much. I know it's fiction, but it was just way too much. Too unbelievable even for the fantasy genre. I was left feeling disappointed and disillusioned as well as very confused.

There were too many loose ends and happy endings. Why did Eli end up being "good?" Why was Owen left to live after it is known that he is Merlin's son? And why the heck did we have to include Merlin and Christian beliefs in the story? In the end, the pagans lose out to the one true " God." Yeah, OK *rolls eyes* And let me not even get started with Holly becoming blind and one of the Justices who keep things in balance. I loathed the ending. I know the authors were trying to give everyone a happy ending, which is something I always hate, but please do better. I mean, the main characters, Holly and Jer, received the most depressing ending. Holly can be only with Jer for a while in some stupid castle, but then she has to go back to her new job. So, where does that leave Jer and where does he go after that? How is that supposed to be a happy ending? For all that love between them, they never were together in the books. Kari was with Jer more than his so called soulmate. And oh yeah, Kari is some kind of recarnation of Karienne, Jean's mistress. Lame. And more reincarnations. Nicolette and Elijah are now Nicole and Eli? What? Apparently, the whole Deveraux and Cahors feud started with them in the 1200's. But it was so confusing that I did not get it. Nicolette and Elijah are in love and supposed to meet but end up disappearing. And one of the Moore ancestors goes to each family and blames the other for killing those two. But this makes no sense. Aren't both the Devearaux and Cahors French, so why are they in England with the Moores? Huh? I'm still scratching my head over that one. And how come no one figured out that it was the Moores scared by the Cahors and Devearaux powers combined that started and fueled the feud? Just totally confusing. There were way too many things going on that made no sense and did not come together.

From the wonder that was the first novel, the final novel and the conclusion to the series was far fetched and just out there. It was the most horrible of all. I would give it a 1 star but since I enjoyed the novels preceeding it and always like reading about witchcraft- I decided to be kind and give it 2 stars.

The wait is over for me to read this book 6 long years after reading the others before this. I can't say I'm not glad that the story is finally finished, but now after reading it, I am sort of disappointed as to how the story and the plot unraveled and where they had led to. I'd imagined something more after all the chaos and climactic actions in the forth book but to me, nothing much more happened in this finale. I wasn't frightened for the characters, wasn't at the edge of my seat hoping everyone would end up okay. I'm sorry to say that the authors did not make me relate to the characters and feel the emotions that they were dealt with or the tragic events that they had to fight. I loved this series and had hoped for a great battle in this last book but sadly I felt it was lackluster than the rest. Thanks to amazon for having this novel in stock earlier than the supposed release date and the fast shipping. Thanks to the authors for finally finishing this series. I read it because I love books and I wanted to know what the ending had in store for my favourite characters no matter if it was good or bad. Because books take me to a whole different world and it just wouldn't be the same if I had made up my own story or ending of my characters. So to the fans of this series, read it to fulfill your curiousity and because you want to be taken to where your characters are and for closure to the story because that's what it was for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Duped!, October 15, 2009
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
I don't know what the authors were thinking when they introduce a character who changes time. Maybe they thought they could save a dying story with dozen plot lines change. It's all poorly done. Like pulling teeth without medication.

This book just sort of spins out of control. Let's throw in Merlin. Everybody change sides. Holly's not a witch any longer.

After 4 previous books about witches, suddenly angels show up to save the day. Regardless of that - in the final battle, Jer, the sorcerer, "chuckles at the Christians and their quaint belief in one god." Really? I thought for just a second that he had a brain.

Then the goddess and horned god turn out to be bad guys thwarted and banished by the One True God - and Holly, who drops in after throwing a silly tantrum in the "Blind Justice" chambers - realizes she's always served God.

I'm a Christian. God is my all. But for a story line, I felt like I'd been duped. It's not a supernatural thriller. It's anti-witch propaganda. Adding fuel to a lot of self-righteous fanatical Christians belief that the horned god of the Pagans is actually satan.

Then all the characters, regardless of finding out that their deities are evil - go back to life as it was before.

2.0 out of 5 stars What a Waste of Time, Paper, and Ink, June 24, 2009

Wow, the other books were decent, better than the Twilight Series but this book was horrendous. The only redeeming quality was it ended the series. Everything else was terrible.

This final chapter of the story of the Cahors witches, Holly, Amanda and Nicole, was a big let down. It was like the authors had no idea of how to finish up all the plot twists in the previous novels so they just started grasping at the first thing they could think of.

First of all, they were SO off base with the myths and legends of the God and Goddess that the reader is left thinking "Where the heck did this come from". Taking a little creative license is okay but going so far off base is not.

I think the biggest turn off for me, is that the authors are literally pushing their religious beliefs down the reader's throats, or at least it sure seems like that. Honestly, tying Christianity and the God/Goddess belief together was really nauseating. Come on, Merlin was the fourth Wiseman???

Then, there were so many different types of mythical creatures that the pages were really crowded. There were so many crowded together with their Christian Wisemen being portrayed as wizards (yes all of them) it made a very sloppy story line.

One of my biggest complaints with the previous 2 books was the frequent jumping around from one character's thoughts to another's. It doesn't seem possible but there was actually more of that going on in this book. Some pages jumped to 3 points of view, all in the span of one page! It is very obvious the authors did not pay any attention to their reader's previous comments for the very same thing in the other two books. I really do not understand why they felt it was necessary to do this.

And finally, the ending was terrible. What a let down. After all the battles, all the buildup, I was expecting a good ending but it was as if the authors just did not know how to end it so they slapped on whatever came to mind, kill the bad guys, resurrect the good guys, and send the two lovers off in La La Land together.

I was really torn between giving this a 1 star rating and a 2 star rating. I decided on the 2 stars "only" because I wanted to see how the series ended and the technical aspect of the writing is decent.

I do not recommend buying this book. But, if you are like me and want to see how it ends, then consider buying it used. It really isn't worth the new book price.

I didn't read any reviews before I bought this book and it wouldn't have mattered anyway since I wanted to know what happened to all of the characters. It was worth my time because it gave me closure, but it was a huge disappointment. It wasn't worth my $9.99. Makes you wonder if deadlines had a great deal to do with how the story unraveled. I no longer have an interest in these authors.

3.0 out of 5 stars What????, June 20, 2009
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
This book is such a let down, I had falln' in love with the characters during the last book. However, this book seems to skim only the surface of the charactors depth. I never felt the connection with them during this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't even finish it, it was so awful!, November 22, 2009
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
Ok, to start off with, I am a huge fan of the supernatural genre. To be honest, I didn't particularly like the last 2 books of this series. For some reason, I couldn't put them down, it was more like I wanted to find out what happened but I didn't like what happened once I read it. I hated how the authors left the other books so open-ended. At first I liked how they pretty much said that every religion has something to it but everything else was all over the place (viewpoints etc,)Too much far-fetched stuff happened throughout both books. Most books you read, there's something happening that would never happen but you can follow along with it, you "pretend" like it could happen, I suppose you could say. So much happened throughout this entire series that I was left saying "WHAT??? no way." By the third book, I just borrowed it from the library, I couldn't waste my money on it so I guess you can say I was biased from the beginning of it. I started reading this book for the same reason as the other 2, I just wanted to find out what happened and see if Holly ever got with Jer. I got about 1/5 of the way through and I just closed it up and returned it. I couldn't force myself to read it. I even made it the only book in the bathroom so I'd just read it out of desperation but not even that could force me to read it so I finally just gave up on it. Don't waste your money on this book or the other 2. I noticed that my library doesn't have the first 2 books (they don't carry whole series, they just have the odd book in a series here and there) so I'm going to donate the first 2 cause it's either that or I burn them (and I have never burned a book in my life, they were just that awful)

2.0 out of 5 stars Series showed promise, but disappointing, November 1, 2009
By
P. S. Sturgill (Jackson, MI United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Resurrection (Wicked) (Paperback)
When I started this series, I felt it showed a lot of promise and expected a fun read. Unfortunately, I felt this final book was the worst one of the series. It became so confusing that it was hard to follow what was going on. First off, the authors attempt at including every religious belief known to history, as well as legendary characters (like Merlin) I found to be overwhelming and detracted from the story line more than adding. Secondly, the inability to let anyone die without miraculously finding a way to "come back" to life (using whatever religion or means that would allow such a feat) made for too many characters with little to no meaningful part. Also, the fact that EVERY main character was the reincarnation of an ancestor. From the beginning, it was understood that Holly and Jer where the reincarnated Isabeau and Jean. *SPOILER* Now we have Kari (Karienne), Nicole (Nicolette and ISABEAY??), Eli (Elijah and JEAN??), as well as an occaional unnecessary character).

Merlin's appearance in the book was just weird. I have to ask "why?" Holly's part in the final book also. Why? The influx of every mythical being known in the final battle, didn't fit into the modern setting the authors tried to make us feel. The whole battle felt out of place. The ability of one character to all of a sudden time travel made my head spin. What time are we in? Why are we here? What are we learning that is essential to the plot? These are all questions I found myself wondering throughout the last half of this book. Still no idea why these two families are feuding. Frustrating!

The authors do attempt to let us no why the families are feuding and it was a very weak ending. The idea that the Horned God/Goddess everyone is worshipping (not to mention Buddha, Zoroastrians, Australian Dreamers, Native American deities, etc) don't "care" about their followers, only destroying everyone was a little over the top for me. For me, it made everything meaningless.

The reason I gave this book 2 instead on 1 star, is because it was an easy and fast read. At least it had that going for it. If you want to try these books, by all means do so. But get them at the library first.
