A graduate of the University of Florida (BA), and the University of Leicester (PhD), Read has completed the ASIS Assets Protection I, II and III courses, the Crime Analysis & Mapping, Crime Intelligence, and Criminal Profiling course series, and the Kinesic, John E. Reid, and Wicklander and Zulawski interview courses. His background also includes reserve US Army infantry officer (Recon/Scout platoon leader), and as a narcotics agent with the Alachua County Florida Sheriff's Office.
Dr. Hayes is a member of the American Society of Criminology (ASC), Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), Academy of Security Educators and Trainers (ASET), the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), and the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP).
