Book Description

September 15, 2002
Amanda Ford, the bestselling author of Be True to Yourself, now presents Retail Therapy, the ultimate guide to life -- through shopping! Retail Therapy is a playful yet wise look at the pleasures of shopping. Amanda Ford loves to shop, and she exuberantly shares the stories of her most memorable finds -- the perfect pink sweater, a set of precious porcelain dishes, a dusty yet valuable antique. But she also shows how shopping allows us to examine deeper truths about our lives and what is really going on when money is spent. Chapters include "The Best Trends to Follow Are the Ones You Set Yourself," "We Never Know How Things Will Turn Out," "Be Thankful for What You Have," and "Some Places We Have to Go to Alone." Blending tales about her own experiences with life lessons, quotes, and advice, her message is ultimately about discovering your passions, taking care of yourself, and being conscious about decisions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyday activity described with unusual insight, November 21, 2002
This review is from: Retail Therapy: Life Lessons Learned While Shopping (Paperback)
This is a book about an ordinary everyday activity written in an extraordinary way. It's easy to write a "profound book" but this is much harder. Ms. Ford has written about an everyday activity like shopping with unusual insight and awareness. I found humor, insight and much to think about. I recommend this book to all!

Jay Schlechter, PhD, Author of Intimate Friends: An Antidote to Loneliness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Fun Too!, March 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Retail Therapy: Life Lessons Learned While Shopping (Paperback)
The stories in this book were helpful to me. When I'm depressed I want to go shopping and these easy to read stories gave me the support I needed to look elsewhere for satisfaction. After reading this book, I've started thinking instead of making an automatic purchase. Reading this book was fun. I liked that it wasn't preachy. The inside design is great. Makes a great gift.

This review is from: Retail Therapy: Life Lessons Learned While Shopping (Paperback)
This is a surprising book. I thought it would be just about shopping but it really is much deeper than that. There are some very touching stories that made me think about my shopping habit in a whole new way. I am trying to be more thoughtful about how I spend my money and this started me thinking.
