This review is from: Retiring Abroad (Cadogan Guides Retiring Abroad) (Paperback)
Retiring Abroad is practical guidebook to planning to spend one's golden years in another nation. An introductory section discusses why retiring abroad can be a preferable option, and covers such basic concerns as taxes, working abroad, language barriers, cost of living issues, red tape and more. Detailed profiles of over 45 countries, including the 10 most popular for retiring abroad, allow one to effectively survey options, and further chapters walk one through selecting a property, financing the purchase, and the nuts and bolts of how to smoothly transition and settle in to one's new home. A plain-terms primer, covering a broad range of common problems and solutions, packed with just about everything to decide whether retiring abroad is best suited for the reader.

Despite the fact that this book is advertised on Amazon.com, and the fact that the price is printed on the cover in $$, and the glowing review by Midwest Book Review above, this book is written by a Brit, for Brits, with reference to UK retirement schemes, healthcare systems, etc. There is zero information in this book concerning US social security, medicare, etc. In my view, it is virtually useless for US citizens! Also, a lot of the information in it consists of lists of websites, which you can almost certainly find for free using a Google search!
