I kinda assumed that this would be compatible with the iPhone but it is not. Unfortunately, you have to buy the Apple brand cable for this feature to work. There is apparently a chip in the Apple cables that allow the iPhone to achieve better video quality and this is not backwards compatible. This is not the seller's or product's fault as it was not advertised to do so. Hopefully with this review I can keep someone else from making the same mistake i did trying to save a few bucks by getting a cheaper cable.

This item was so inexpensive I had to at least try it, regardless of the negative reviews. It came with a little slip of instructions that advised how to set up the iPod video settings, and it has worked perfectly for me with everything I have hooked it up to- including a HD TV, and a projector. The video quality is good- I bought a movie from iTunes and it looked great on our big screen. My only complaint is that the wires do feel a bit flimsy, but I haven't broken it yet! And if I do, it was so cheap I'll just replace it.

I bought this product from the vendor Eforcity, and it arrived quickly, worked great and was packaged attractively. Cable is fine for my usage with my AV receiver. iPod sounds great through the receiver and the video image is reasonably sharp on my HDTV (it's not high def, but it's an analog signal, so I didn't expect that). Overall, a great little cable for the price (about 5 bucks).

I did not do my homework. This cable most certainly does not work with the Touch or iPhone. The only cable that works with these devices is the expensive AV cable from the Apple store.

As for the quality / construction of the retractable cable - it is very flimsy and cheaply made. The cables are thin and the spring loaded retraction is tempermental.

Save your money and get the real deal unless you have an older generation ipod device and you are just using this for occasional travel applications.

It's kind of cheap, but it was CHEAP. Works like it should so I can't knock it. I use it regularly.

This thing doesn't work with the latest ipod classic (6th generation). It does not transmit any video signal to my TV (and it's not my TV. I do know how to set up my TV).

Very poor quality item for this price, also didn't work with iTouch, Ipod Classic or Nano 3g. Don't waste your money

It doesn't work! Even on an iPod Nano 3rd Generation. Don't buy it no matter what!

I was happy to see that the quality of this item exceeded my expectations. As stated in the ad, this item WILL work with the iPhone, touch, and other newer iPods THROUGH THE USE OF AN ADDITIONAL APPLE REMOTE DOCK. For Pete's sake, people, READ the page before leaving feedback. Fast and accurate shipping, great product overall. Thank you!

didn't work with my ipod. maybe i bought the wrong one- but the whole description was confusing as hell. its NOT composite even though it talks about composite, and it didn't work on my color screen ipod nano.
