Want to lose weight and keep it off for good?
The secret to a slimmer body is a stronger mind!

A bad day at work, a fight with a family member, or perhaps even the higher numbers on your bathroom scale--your instinctive brain directs you to balance out that stress with something that will make you feel better: food. Indeed, cutting-edge brain imaging technology shows that you are driven to overeat to satisfy pleasure centers in your head. How can you fight that? It's easier than you think.

Award-winning researcher Georgia Andrianopoulos has created a simple, easy-to-apply program that will help you rebalance and retrain your brain in a matter of days to eliminate the food cravings that cause you to overeat. As your body adapts to this healthier way of life, excess weight will melt away and stay away.

Retrain Your Brain, Reshape Your Body enables you to:

  • Identify the parts of your brain that are causing you to gain weight
  • Jump-start weight loss with twenty easy-to-use tricks and tools
  • Create your own brain-training program tailored to your own specific brain patterns and personality type

This review is from: Retrain Your Brain, Reshape Your Body: The Breakthrough Brain-Changing Weight-Loss Plan (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is much more than a weight loss book. The author is a physiologic psychologist and a brain expert. I learned a lot about the evolution of the human brain and how the structure of the brain effects our every day decisions. I believe many people have a general idea of how muscles work, but don't understand how the brain works. This book describes how the brain works and explains how you can change the way you react to the brain's signals, and change your behaviors. The author uses the analogy of training the brain to the way we train our muscles. By understanding how the brain works and training the brain to work to accomplish goals, you can successfully achieve those goals, such as weight loss and fitness.

Reading this book made the light go on for me. It seems obvious now, but the brain controls everything in the body. Understand the brain, train the brain, and you can control the body. Conversely, if you do not understand the brain and do not exercise the brain, you have no chance of taking control of your body. You can read every book printed on weight loss, exercise and diet, but unless you have a basic understanding of the brain you will not be able to change your habits. Even if you are not interested in losing weight this is an excellent book for describing how the brain works and how you can take control of your brain.

Georgia Andrianapolis takes the age old overweight dilemma and turns it on its head, literally.
Her easy explanation of the brain and how it can help with overweight was very clear and simple to follow.
Better than Martha Beck.

Very interesting perspective on our relationship with food. Further, the concepts discussed in the book, and exercises presented, would apply not only to overeating but to many other negative behavioral patterns.
